Woman loses two fingers in station escalator accident in Kawasaki

A 55-year-old woman lost two of her fingers in an accident involving an escalator handrail at JR Mizokuchi Station in Kawasaki, police said Thursday.

Police said the accident occurred at around 8 a.m. on Wednesday, TV Asahi reported. The woman was wearing gloves and holding the moving handrail when her finger became lodged between the rail and a whisky bottle in a plastic bag that had been discarded next to the rail.

Police believe the woman's fingers became stuck between the rail and the bottle, before her middle and ring fingers were wrenched off at the knuckle by the movement of the rail, TV Asahi reported.

Ouch that sounds terribly painful poor woman, who ever discarded the whiskey bottle needs a good swift kick.

I thought this took place in Mizonokuchi on the Nambu line. Wherever it took place extremely bizarre accident.

Itai so!!! As much as this is a tragedy I don't think this woman was paying very much attention to get her fingers wedged between the rail and a bottle.

Thanks to some stupid drunk bastard, leaving a plastic bag with a bottle of whiskey this poor woman now has lost 2 fingers! Poor woman!

This was just an accident. Not the woman's fault for not paying attention and certainly not the fault of the "drunk bastard" as you say. Instead of needlessly projecting negativity, try to feel empathy free of judgement.

Poor lady, very bizarre situation. Will they be able to reattach the fingers?

I never touch escalator handrails. They are seriously dirty.
