This is the Problem.
""Japan's parliament enacted legislation in April last year to pay 3.2 million yen state compensation to each person who underwent forced sterilization.""
NOT ENOUGH TO HEAL THE WOUNDS of a cat scratch.

Couldn't she adopt? This happened over 40 yrs ago. Yes it was wrong.

While I agree with the sentiment, I disagree with the statement. I'd happily let cats scratch me all day long at 3 million a scratch.

How many Japanese do you think adopt today? How many Japanese do you think adopted 40yrs ago?
*dan
Does 3.2 million heal the wounds of a person forced to be sterilized by the state?
The answer is NO.
The compensation is woeful ! The state should be sued for millions by each victim.
3.2 million is a joke and an insult to the victims!!
i@n
How much do you think should the victims be compensated?
What the law gives is really a paltry sum, yeah an insult.
Japan seemed to have just emulated the compensation from whoever they emulated the law from

Ivanka came here and easily made away with 50M dollars for her women movement.

Sounds like she’s just after money
dan
@Vince Black as opposed to her forced sterilization??
Perhaps you would sympathize with her if you were given a irreversible vasectomy?
Why shouldn't the state pay out BIG for its despicable treatment of disabled people?!
sigh...
Ah_so
Hiow about reading what she actually said rather than reading into it a story your own cynicism. Of course she wants the money, but that is not the only thing she is after:
""I want the state to apologize."
timeon
Ahso, it is conveniently left out of the article, but the government did apologize.
dan
@timeon
yes and offered pathetic compensation to the victims!

No excuse for eugenics laws, none! Didn't Hitler do that crap in the 1930s, 1940s? SMH in disgust.
