Does Japanese man will stand about that? This is what they did

Even considering that female doctors are more likely to abandon their careers (and complicate the situation in Japan where some regions have a big deficit of doctors) restricting the entrance of women to medical schools is not only unethical it is also a completely inadequate measure to "solve" the problem. This applies specially when the universities and medical schools do it without informing the students, that means they recognized it was wrong but still went along with it.

Go ladies go!

what a Shocker, Japan……
That’s what happens when you eliminate tampering and cheating.
now if you also eliminate contradicting logic, nepotism, payoffs, overcomplicating simple situations, close minded thinking and scandals, maybe Japan could actually become a powerful and innovative nation again?
maybe?

I admire your optimism.
Add the Gaijin into the mix and the "maybe" turns to "Never"

Perhaps if Japan did away with archaic gender roles, less women would feel pressured and compelled to choose motherhood over their careers; and realize that they can have both and do both if they wish.
I can't believe these universities actually rigged the system to lower the number of female students admitted. It's so wholly unethical and once again shines a bright light on just how women are undervalued in Japan.

No surprises here. I taught in Japanese senior high schools and colleges for nearly twenty years. The women always out perform the men academically.

My wife has the skills to do anything. I’m constantly surprised. My daughters too, surprise me. I’m better at grappling a black bear, but they are better at fixing me after. It’s ridiculous to stop, inhibit anyone from a profession that’s goal is to help? I am surprised that so many are rejected, even before training.

You mean first time without the Oyaji old boys club subtracting 50 points from female students' scores.

It’s still quite a statistical unbalance. In general, one can say that young women pass and master high school and university at an average of about 70-30 ratio anywhere in the world, including or let’s say especially medical universities, while most top positions afterwards are still filled with men. On the other hand one shouldn’t easily conclude about intellectual capabilities , IQ and all that, because there the broader average picture is another, slightly more favoring to men, for their more logical behavior compared to more acquainted but unreflected knowledge and facts stored in women’s brains, but again balanced more to the women if it is about the few people with ultra highest IQ and intelligence. Without all the unfairness or other outbalancing selection processes we would have for example and in theory only of course, 70% female doctors and almost no men, and we would have have many more women in leading positions, but more functional as a dictionary or static knowledge base, not so very much engineering or taking new challenges on new unknown paths. And we also would have quite more but still only a very few women at the very upper top, as Nobel laureates or other solely top figures in many sciences or even as chess players and such.

In Japan I've noticed that female has always high competition in school entrance (number of female candidates vs available slots) which make them more competitive. On the side note we'll have less creepy oyaji docs ;lD

Now let’s watch the inevitable decline in the social status of doctors.
They’ll probably be earning less, too….

As predicted -- once the old men got caught tampering with the results and had to stop.

A problem is that top academically qualified students in Japan prefer (or get advised by teachers/parents) to go to med schools whose programmes are in fact more vocational than academic. They believe that becoming medical doctors are much better off than other professionals. Going directly from high school/cram school Japanese med students also tend to be younger or immature without real life experiences. Some med elites seem short of ethical training. We are lamented to see many prefit-seeking doctors and medical establishments sabotaging reforms amid the current virus crisis.
Meanwhile many researchers and natural scentists in Japan have been underpaid, under-treated. Not to mention Japanese women have remained underrepresenting in science and tech fields.
Med school programs are expensive, largely subsidized by the state. It's a huge waste of (public) money and brains. Remember, doctor's primary job is to care, and be caring. If merely wanting to chase money & fame or prove own level of intelligence, better seek other majors or fields. That would be a sensible, balanced solution for both talented students as well as the Japanese society.

Oh first time ever. Really! they've been beating men for years....if it wasn't for the ol male doctors cheating and fixing the system.

Results should be expected. Their mindset and efforts were probably such that they're prepared for the expected discriminatory barrier.
So when the barrier was removed more excelled.

well done ladies!

Must be a level playing field always, the right person irrespective of gender.
My Father is embarrassed with waterworks stuff to be examined by a female doctor.
I understand.
He won't open up to the need to view the health necessities above his awkwardness.
Luddite
This is what happens when you stop fiddling the results. How many mediocre men have got through medical school and let loose on patients when better qualified candidates are cheated out of a career in medicine due to their sex.

Great news, government Jobs and offices NEXT. Go Ladies Go.

""The results come after a string of exam-rigging scandals surfaced in 2018 including that of Tokyo Medical University, which admitted to score manipulation to limit female enrollment.""
How SICKENING.
hmdrpthk
Now they are manipulating in favor of the women.
