These are most likely from indigenous Philippine or Taiwanese fishermen. Honshu and Hokkaido were not inhabited until much later. Let's hope these fish hooks are not used as defense on Japan's fishing culture.

Now that's pretty neat! They still look to be in good condition considering their age!

And why is it NOT possible that they were from the hard work of some Ryukyuan persona and had to be from somewhere else?

World's oldest fishhooks found in Japan: researchers ........... Fishhooks found on a southern Japanese island date back some 23,000 years, making them among the world’s oldest fishing implements, researchers said Monday.

Got problems with giving Okinawa it's due?

Only too excited to use Okinawa's name FIRST when there is a protest or something unfortunate happens, but when it's positive. It's "Japan" first then somewhere down the line Okinawa.

Next time when there is a US Military issue brought up, please keep this in mind and write the appropriate title, Drunk driving incident in Japan sparks protest.....etc etc etc.
