From left: Producer Barbara Broccoli, British actor Daniel Craig, Ukrainian actress Olga Kurylenko and director Marc Forster meet the press in Tokyo on Tuesday to promote the latest James Bond film, "Quantum of Solace." Craig said the film, which opens in Japan on Jan 24, is a "beautiful, emotional, action-packed film that has its roots in the early Bond films of the 1960s."

Good movie. Pretty much non stop action. I like Daniel Craig's Bond.

I hear the best thing about this movie is Olga Kurylenko. And that it is a good action thriller, but not a James Bond movie.

Sarge, interested to know why it is "not a James Bond movie"? Hadn't the Pierce Brosnan overly-suave, gadget-obscessed formula gotten stale? I'd much rather see more action than silly scenes in the lab with Q demonstrating the latest stuff. Don't get me wrong, I love John Cleese, but don't want to pay 1,800 yen to see him trade witty remarks with James Bond.

It's definitely more like a Bourne movie than a Bond movie. The editing of the action scenes is very MTV video style. And it unforgivably doesn't have the gun barrel sequence at the start of the film. But that's all I'll say for the benefit of those readers who haven't seen the film yet.

herefornow - It's just a review I read. I haven't seen it yet myself.

What! It doesn't have the gun barrel sequence at the beginning? It's definitely not a James Bond movie then!

After the whole planet have seen it, Japan will see this movie on Jan 24 2009 ! After Turkey, after Peru, after Nigeria, after Kenya, after Equador all those countries and many others get the film on november 2008 but Japan will see it on Jan 24 2009 and it's a Sony film ! I really don't understand why we get movies at the cinema when the whole world have already seen them and are already getting the DVD or the Blu-Ray Disc.....

Is the woman's name really 'broccoli'?
I'm definitely going to see the movie, and Craig has impressed me a whole lot more than I thought he would, but I don't know.... I'm torn on the whole new take of Bond. I absolutely hate it when movies go back in time to the start of a 'series' and it's in the past yet clearly based in the present (or not far back), and the technology/effects are better than what they were so long ago, even though that was the future. I personally liked Brosnan as Bond, though as I said Craig gets far more credit than I was willing to give at first.
Anyway, I plan on getting the DVD elsewhere before the movie comes out here... or just see it on my ANA flight home.

Daniel Craig kind of looks like a badly dressed high-school geography teacher. Well, in this photo, anyway. Will have to watch the movie...

Nope, translations already finished - my friend was working on it a few months back (they go from movie script around 6months before release)

You've never heard of Albert Broccoli, her father? He's pretty much the primary reason Ian Flemming's James Bond ever made it on to the movie screen in the first place. I'd say that's Bond 101...

Doesn't even look like Daniel Craig. More like an out-of-shape double - pot belly and more hair than Craig has.

Promote the movie two months before its release in Japan? Gee, thanks a lot for making us wait that long.

i think the release delays have more to do with the promotional schedule and distribution of prints (which are leased to cinemas) than anything else
still annoying, though
