I'll take the one in the pink

I'd like to take the one in the pink too........to the nearest river and push her in.

I seriously doubt the mental health of all these people. Disgusting.

Agree with LoveUSA. Dressing up like this when you're 4 and building a castle out of cardboard boxes in your living room is one thing, but walking around like this in public in your teens or twenties indicates an extremely unstable mind.

Or a lot of guts. But still, I don't think that's quite it. Group effect, more like. Confidence through your peers. And there are a lot at the Japan Expo.

I left France a while ago for Japan, but I may return one day and not be shocked too much by any difference with my present home !

Domo Arigato Mr. Robato... Domo

Can it get any sillier. If Chirac sees this his love affair with Japan will come to an end.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

...Well cosplaying has infected well beyond Japan's scope. Remember the days when the only time you could see folks dressing in costumes was on halloween, a comic convention, or sci-fi festival?

indicates an extremely unstable mind.

Only in your small world.

I think it's alright when you're in your tweens or early teens. Once you're old enough for uni, people should start to get a life. It should be for play, not for reals.

Still, not as unproductive or counterproductive as getting into gangs or doing massive drugs.

Sacre bleu! French cosplay girl in pink wearing bunny slippers. I fail to see anything wrong with that. @JackDorff - do we know that Mr.Chirac would object to this kind of thing? @sushimike - that's #3 on my to-do list.

I'd preffer this over black, white and gray wearing french girls.

We'll ALL take the one in the Pink...I bet she'd LIKE that :O

Speak for yourself. Am I the only one who finds the pink one a bit frumpy?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

@damien15: If the French girls are mature, that alone is better in my book.

Cosplay is image without substance and a lot of the Japanese girls seem to have got that down fine, these two really don’t seem to know what it is they are trying to be. Wearing granny’s pink cardigan just doesn’t make it. So, those that have a desire for the pink one please do remove her as soon as possible, she really is bringing the tone of the place down. As for it being a stupid thing to be doing, so what! I can of many worse things they could be getting into.

Everybody has a hobby. Im not against it !! It's their life. Im not going to intrude on anybodies lifestyle.

ENJOY !!!! Everybody has 1 life. Have fun and do your own thing. Ill take the girl in the black behind the pink one.

I agree with Whiskey...live and let live...I will take pinky too...she looks hot!!!

When all is said and done, I don't see anything wrong with this compared to the "goth" trend that still seems to be going strong a decade later. I'm tired of people dressing like they're auditioning for the next "Addams Family" movie.

Buh duh duh DUM! (snap snap)

There's just been a big cosplay/anime festival in LA too- with no shortage of participants either.

Slight tinge of naughtiness aside, where would you go for a date with a cosplay partner??

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I love the bunny slippers. I have a pair myself.

Aren't Trekkie fans the original cosplayers??

Then again one can make a case for Halloween trick-or-treaters as well...

0 ( +0 / -0 )

So what's worse...cosplayers? Or you "normal" folk with enough time to make droll comments about cosplayers?

Really. No one cares.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I highly doubt these are cosplayers. Cosplay is more about dressing up as something you're not. They just look like lolitas. Oh yes, there is a difference.

Is the one on the left wearing some kind of latex mask?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Is this REALLY the imagine Japan wants to be promoting to the world?? Who ever came up with this needs to be sacked ASAP.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Genjuro Yep seems like the trekkies are the originals xD. "Live long and prosper" with thousands of folks dressed up as Vulcans, Romulans, Klingon... wait, they even created Klingonese!!! Halloween is kinda moot though since it is a holiday for everyone who celebrates it and we all get to go to costume parties and the young'un get free candy.

On another note though the pink loligoth kind of makes me want to go fashion police on those cursed bunny slippers. Totally throws the whole thing off into the twilight zone. If she was cosplaying in PJ's I could see it.

I never knew they had these kinds of events in Paris. It may be just me, but it seems a little out of place.

I have far more disgust for those who bash random (strange, different, unfamiliar) hobbies than those who do the hobbies. They may not be your cup of tea, but no one wants to hear your negativity gushing out. It has little to do with their "mental health" and more to do with yours.

whiskeysour..Well put...like your view on life..

Where I live ppl wouldn't dress like that, but I happen to think its fun...besides its become part of the japanese culture..what about goth? ppl who dress in black...its a style and though not all will agree to it, why go on to say ppl have to mentally unstable?

PPl need to learn to be more open minded...worse things go on and happen in the world than a group of ppl who are happy to be able to express themselves.

Actually, here in the States, that hasn't changed. Is there somewhere in Europe where adults dress-up as cartoon characters and such as a hobby? Just pathetic.

That's a mannequin.
