Heart of Gold

The lobby of the Grand Hyatt Tokyo is decorated for its annual holiday charity program under this year’s theme “Heart of Gold.” With the support of non-profit organizations such as Kids Earth Fund (KEF), Re Kikou and Refugees International Japan (RIJ), the charity program, which runs through Dec 25, features an interactive lobby area, a mini concert and a range of activities including SNS program designed to support people with disabilities, people displaced by conflict around the world as well as children in regions hit by devastating natural disasters. Re Kikou employs people with disabilities in recycling wine and champagne corks into new products, to transform recycled corks from the hotel into beautiful and meaningful ornaments and themed tiles with images of children’s paintings from Kids Earth Fund. They will be available for sale at all restaurants, bars, the front desk, Grand Club and Nagomi Spa and Fitness at the hotel for guests to purchase and all the proceeds will be donated to Kids Earth Fund.

Guests will be able to participate in decorating the tree by purchasing and hanging these charitable ornaments at the hotel. In the afternoon of Dec 1, the hotel will hold a mini charity concert at the lobby area, in collaboration with Refugees International Japan (RIJ) and Tokyo International Children's Choir. The concert will be open to the public and there will be donation boxes in the lobby area in support of RIJ which funds projects for people displaced by conflict around the world.

During this period of time, the hotel will also invite guests and the local community to participate in the SNS charity program by taking photo at Grand Hyatt Tokyo and posting them on their Instagram with hashtags #GrandHoliday2019 and #Charity. When the number of posts and reposts of the above elements (on accounts which follow the hotel’s official Instagram account) exceeds 1,000, the hotel will donate 100,000 yen to the KEF.
