Pink nights in Meguro

Trees along the Meguro River in Tokyo between Meguro and Osaki stations are lit up as part of the Megurogawa Minna no Illumination display which runs from 5 p.m. - 10 p.m. until Jan 5. Electricity for the 415,000 LED lights is generated by using local waste oil as a resource. Unlike most winter light displays which use blue, the Meguro illumination is in pink to reflect the immense popularity of cherry blossoms in the area during spring.

Why pink? Color of Christmas is red and green....and other assorted colors.

What difference does the color make? Just because Japan has taken the secular side of Christmas and made it their own, does not make it any less Christmas!
