Reading some of the posts here reinforces my feeling that the more I know about people the more I prefer the company of dogs.

Prophetic, may I suggest, the older, more independent, the more selfish. am I an example? Possibly?

A thirty something?

As a dog person I know lots of people who live with dogs and not a one of them ‘keep their dogs in tiny, metal cages and only take them out when they want to play for a while’. In every case the dog(s) is(are) a valued family member.

A sign I once saw: "This house exists for the comfort and convenience of the dog" So true. Another said "Warm hearts and cold noses make this house a home".

Dogs and Cats are great partners, in many cases better than a Human Partner.

My Golden Retrievers are member of my family. When I lived in Japan, I was fortunate to have friends who treated their dogs the same way. Family members deserve more than a paid walker.

Often you cannot take your fur kids with you on travel, so you hire someone to dog sit. They will feed them, play with them and walk them for you while you are away. To me this is far better than sending them to a dog kennel. At least they are at home in familiar surroundings instead of penned up in a kennel. Some dog sitters will even spend the night in your home so your doggies are not left alone at night. We have a family friend who does this for us and he brings his own doggie along. He therefore has three dogs to walk, our two and his.

I think Nobuaki Moribe is a professional 'Dog walker'. In other words, he is getting paid to exercise other peoples' pets. He could walk them individually, giving each pet the proper care and attention that it needs -- but instead, in order to save time and increase his earnings per hour he walks them all at once, creating an obstruction for other pedestrians, cyclists and road users.

Come on, don't be such a sourpuss. The dogs enjoy company of other dogs just like children enjoy the company of other kids. I would love to be on that sidewalk and see all those cool, cute doggies but I'm a hopeless dog lover.

Nobuaki Moribe is a professional, he takes great care of the dogs he works with. I used his services and was greatly pleased. This is the typical 2 hours walk arranges for dogs who want to spend a long time out (it wasn't even included in the initial package of 30 min. group walk) He can also keep your dog overnight as a pet hotel and will send you photos of your pet playing with his family and enjoying his holidays out of home ! Some of the sour comments here are really sad to read. Congratulations for appearing in Japan Today Nobuaki-san !

The circle of dogs keeps passersby at a proper social distance.

Closer inspection of this photograph reveals that the dogs differ greatly in size; therefore their walking speeds will not be the same. The larger, stronger dogs are pressing forward to go faster, while the smaller guys are lagging behind. If you look closely, you can see the smallest dog behind the man's left foot, where it seems in danger of being trod upon.

I am afraid a number of neighbors keep pets chained up.

I let both Soy and Bailey have free run of the house.

I also walk them myself, that photo is bonkers.

it used to be that Japanese dogs spent their lives chained up outside, but thankfully those days are long gone.

That's what I do three or four times a day with my pack.

Do Japanese owners keep pets for fashion and pose? I don't think they take care of those poor boys with bottom of their heart.

But then they make movies like Star Watching Dog, Quills and Kinako.
