I'm really confused by the protests - there's nothing in the bill that says Japan will wage war at the drop of a hat. There are three specific triggers and they are all to do with Japanese citizens and interests being in danger, or an ally. I'm starting to wonder if the crowds are only paying attention to comments from those outside of Japan who seem to have not read the bills.

I'm not in favour of Japan changing Article 9, but it's certainly not about sending Japanese troops overseas to fight in foreign wars, or to invade China. You notice that there have been few if any comments from South Korea about this?

They need to set up Punch and Judy like puppet-shows everywhere with Abe in them (being punched), trying to explain to the people of the nation his logic behind doing what none of them want. They can even make it a show within a show and have the Abe puppet trying to do a puppet show to explain it all.

I think the protesters are wrong. But the Constitution guarantees freedom of expression. The police guard the protesters. Abe does not crack down on them. If they executed anti-government campaign on Tiananmen what would they be?

Look at the protests, BTW I never commented that they would stop, only that they were too little, too few, and too late. Which is a common occurrence here in Japan, something happens, THEN people react, not before hand.

They want to get Abe's attention, get a million people out there, THAT will get Abe's attention and the attention of the world as well.

As also noted, get the students out there, Japan has a rather rich history of student demonstrations and if THEY get involved things would get interesting right quick.

Folks have an easy life today here compared to back in the late 60's and early 70's, the parents of today haven't passed that activism on to their children.

It would have more effect if they just mail their placards and banners to Abe directly.
