I've never understood this. Why not order it online and wait in the warm for the takuhai man to bring it?

Because it's too mainstream...

people can't rush around their living rooms shouting "I got the new _____ on the first day!"

You mean I shudna been doing that when I got my delivery of the first OSX? (Long time ago now)

So that's why the neighbours were banging on the wall!

:-)

I think they just like the attention they get as much as a new iPad.

Cleo,

I've never understood this. Why not order it online and wait in the warm for the takuhai man to bring it?

Because usually you don't get your picture in the news media for waiting in your home for the delivery guy to show up. Plus, people can't rush around their living rooms shouting "I got the new _____ on the first day!"

Mine's coming to my house when I get home from work today! No standing and waiting out in the cold for me. I understand why these guys do it though, sometimes Apple gives out freebies to them, or they like the attention in the papers. It's just not my thing.

Nothing new ... people queue up everytime there is a new gadget out there, like when PS2, PS3, Wii and other new stuff on the date of release.

The main problem here is when the shop's stock runs out, and there are still a lot of people waiting.

So true. But they do like to queue in Japan.

I walked past the Apple Store this morning and the queue is almost a block long. You don't usually get queues like this waiting to buy the latest Galaxy Tab or whatever. Apple have amazing brand loyalty.

For some people, this is an adventure and it's fun. I personally wouldn't do it, but neither would I criticize them for this - they're just having fun. If they want to freeze outside, that's certainly their problem and their concern. Just let them be.

I was in Akiba yesterday and saw the massive line starting at about 5:30pm.

Ever since they paid all those people to line up in front of McDonalds a couple years ago, I don't trust any of these pictures. For all we know, all those guys may be shills, the samurai included.

To each his own.

People who ordered online will have to wait 4-6 weeks. people who started lining up by 6am will get one today.

Not true. People who ordered online got them on Friday.

Everyone in the photo is using macbooks or iPhone, first time buyers?

Ha ha. Nope. These are Apple's loyal fans. Android fans get annoyed about that blind loyalty, but there is a reason for it.

Yes, yes, Apple, the greatest tech company in the world. blah blah blah...

If they are so good, why can't I send emoji on my phone anymore after the iOS update? I feel like I've time-warped back to 15 years ago when all I could use are (^o^)

Apple Ipad must use the same advertising as AKB48. All this blanket coverage makes my eyes bleed, its almost as bad as the coverage of the US Republican thingy. I think I will curl up and suck my blanket.

Foxconn employees jumping over the side of the buildings again. Time to roll out the orange nets.

How much more press coverage do we have to endure for a product which has just been updated? A great product nonetheless, but all this useless information makes me wanna buy an android.
