Thousands of runners take their positions in front of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building at the start of the Tokyo Marathon on Sunday. Dennis Kimetto of Kenya won the men's race, while Aberu Kebede of Ethiopia took first place for the women. Some 36,000 runners took part in the race, with 96% completing the distance within seven hours, organizers said.

A beautiful day for the marathon, albeit a bit chilly. Congrats to all those involved, winners and others alike.
edojin: if that's the look the guy was going for, he's an idiot. All the same, so long as he's not hurting anyone, let him be stupid and don't give him the time of day.

Something among the runners disturbed me. When watching the beginning of the run on TV newscasts, I keep seeing a guy who looks like Shoko Asahara, the leader of the Aum Shinrikyo group. This runner has long hair and a beard that makes him look like Asahara, plus he is wearing a purple robe, much like Asahara wore when he was leading his flock of brain-washed followers.
Otherwise it was a nice day to make the run through downtown Tokyo. Everybody seemed to be enjoying themselves.
