Reminds me of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy / Restaurant at the End of the Universe, when Zaphod points out to Arthur that it's better to eat an animal that wants you to, than one that doesn't.
I think it's sheer genius to have the phrase "Anyone for Pork" just an inch away from a photo of Ishihara and Hashimoto forming their little Anschluss.
Pork is one of the most popular meats to hit the grill or smoker. Who doesn't like a tonkatsu or a Yakibuta Ramen. But if pork were ranked by healthiness, pork would be last place since pork consumption has a strong association with many illnesses. I decided to substitute other animal protein for pork. Pigs are scavenger animals and frequently contain parasites and viruses that are not killed with cooking. They often eat its own excreta and dung. Moreover its neck cannot be slaughtered in a proper way so the septic blood that contains uric acid are not released from its flesh. So its flesh is full or uric acid and septic elements due to higher blood content as compared with other meats. Thus science has proven that pork is very unhealthy and it would be wise not to eat pork. However we all love pork and continue to indulge in ham, bologna, and pork products. Hence making moderation a part of eating and enjoying all foods is a better way to go.

@Novenachama: And where did you read about all these? We all know pork cannot be eaten half-cooked like chicken. Appreciate some links.

Porkers would eat you in a second. They are totally omnivorous. So Zaphod would be OK with this.

The same can be said about some fish species, so you might as well strike seafood too.
The argument in favour of pigs is of course that they are the most efficient feed utilizers. It takes only a fraction of the feed for a pig than e.g. a cow to grow the same amount of meat. In fact it is not clear that the earth has enough ressources to continue beef production for its growing population.
Okinawans are famous for their longevity, and Okinawan diet includes pork. In limited amounts though, and I would assume that rule applies for all meat. Why do you think pork in particular is unhealthy?
Novenachama, those are just silly old wives tales. Properly cooked pork is perfectly safe, and delicious. And it's generally the best choice in Japan (good beef is ruinously expensive, lamb is hard to find, chicken is mediocre - all IMO and IME of course). Oink!
No matter how you think about it pigs are a rather dirty animal. Nasty pigs are primary carriers of "Taenia salium tape worm, Hepatitus E., Nipah virus, Menangle virus, Purcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome." The Center for Disease, Control and Prevention recommends thorough cooking of pork as well as freezing the pork prior to cooking to kill off any worms and parasites. I don't know about you but I don't feel good or comfortable about eating anything that I first have to kill off worms and parasites. What you choose to eat is up to you. I challenge you to do your research and you will find large amount of totally mind-blowing information including scientific reasons concerning why pigs are so nasty, unhealthy and why you should avoid eating pork. Again the Center for Disease, Control and Prevention even states "that more than 100 viruses come to the United Sates each year from China through pigs." Now that's real nasty.

I wasn't suggesting a pig be a sumo wrestler. I was acknowledging that they dressed the pig as a sumo. I am actually puzzled by the image. As in WTF?

Instead of oshidashi, the porkozuna favors oishiidashi.

Fried pork?
Oh! Misokatsu. A kind of tonkatsu.
The "fried pork" threw me for a moment.
You don't need to translate that JT. This is Japan, after all.

pork the most unhealthy meat!
nath
Western men hold doors open for women and here it's the opposite.
Why is pork the most unhealthy meat? Beef surely takes that title.
skroknog
Sure, I like pork now and then.
