April Fool burger

Customer Hidenori Sato smells Burger King Japan's perfume, which smells like a flame-grilled burger patty and is named "Flame Grilled Fragrance", at their store as part of the company's April Fool campaign in Tokyo on Wednesday. The perfume, which comes with a Whopper and is limited to 1,000 units, is selling at the price of 5,000 yen and is only available in Japan on Wednesday.

This seem silly, but it was a clever marketing move. The Flame Grilled Fragrance here is the second publicity stunt by BK Japan this year that has gone somewhat viral, following their all-black Whoppers earlier this year.

Not bad semi-free publicity considering that both of these limited-time products were featured in the local U.S. news and all regularly on Facebook as well.

Fools indeed! They should have just made it bacon fragrance and the ladies would have to beat men off with a stick!

Well, there's also Pizza Hut cologne. I saw people on youtube trying to drink that. Probably not the best of ideas...

Fools! All they have to do is walk into a place like BK (if it exists in their area -- hint hint!) or McD's and within a few minutes the grease vapors in the air will cling to them and stink them up for the day. I always know when someone's been to Mickey D's as soon as they walk in the room!

That said, this is indeed a pretty funny prank pulled by BK, and even if they were foolish enough to buy it, the people walk away with something 'unique' (with the Japanese nuance of the katakana word), and they can keep it and laugh about it. Compared with SOME of the 'jokes' I heard today, like a co-worker telling me, "A relative of mine died this morning" and then, "April fools!" when I expressed my condolences, I think BK has the knack. Seriously, some people need to think about what's appropriate and/or funny as a joke. And I love telling them that April Fool's only counts in the morning, and those who try to pull a prank in the afternoon are the fools, but I guess it's always morning somewhere.

"The perfume, which comes with a Whopper"

So it would be around 500 yen for the perfume and a Whopper, right?

April Fool! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
