Yeah I get creative, but I get creative with my own property. I don't go onto my neighbors property and destroy his.

Why don't graffiti artists go to their relatives property and go to town, easy answer their mommy would get mad with them.

It's easier to use darkness to destroy other people's things than to destroy your own.

No different than thieves and should be treated the same way.

Robert DykesMay. 20, 2013 - 04:06PM JST I am sorry to hear that you think that way. I wonder what Ai Weiwei would have to say about that.

You are trying to compare graffiti street vandalisim to artists who are being repressed and censored by the PRC?

Wait a seconds, so tell me, if you draw/spray your work on a canvas does the government run into the art gallery showing it to destroy your work?

Or wait wait, if you are given the okay by the owner of the building, car, train car, or billboard to spray does the government rush in and oppress your art?

Answer to both is downright, NO.

What you call art is really just destruction of property and destruction of the true beauty of the architecture.

How about this, why not spend some money ,buy up as many abandoned building as you and your friends can and then go to town, spray away, then you can call it art.

Until you do all that graffiti art is just destruction of proplerty.

The headline "Art Attack" has fond memories for anyone raised in the UK - Neil Buchanan gurning and being all keen on making fun out of art......... The monkey is nice too.

". If it is done illegally it is graffiti" wow that is really interesting. I am sorry to hear that you think that way. I wonder what Ai Weiwei would have to say about that. He is China most famous artist, but much of his art is censored, deemed "illegal", and sometimes even destroyed. So are you saying that no matter what if one person, society, or country deems something illegal then no matter what it can not be art? So what you think something is illegal but I don't. Then its up to the veiwer, but isnt that the way art always works. So what if the american courts say that a peice of art is vandalism, but Chinese courts do not. So its only a peice of art in China, but no in the USA. The world is not so black and white. You are too hung up on "right" and "wrong" this idea of legality negating the ability for something to be art.

Wish they would have gotten the artists name. One of my favorite artists in Japan is Shohei Otomo. This doesn't look like his style, but who knows.

If graffiti is done on public or private property not owned by the person responsible it is vandalism.

Ahhh...but that is not what you posted previously, you never mentioned vandalism. You called illegal artwork graffiti and I pointed out to you that is not necessarily so.

Vandalism is a totally different subject and the gentlemen in this picture is not vandalizing anything, it seems to me that he is painting or drawing on a sheet or something.

Yes, some graffiti is artistic, but it is still vandalism, thus making it graffiti and not art.

Like I said, we will have to agree to disagree, it is NOT black or white, there is a huge grey area and the difference is totally up to the eye of the beholder. And I will add that not all graffiti is vandalism either, there is "state" sanctioned graffiti as well in some places in the world.

Yeah, but! If graffiti is done on public or private property not owned by the person responsible it is vandalism. Yes, some graffiti is artistic, but it is still vandalism, thus making it graffiti and not art.

here is this argument again. It is art if it is done legally. If it is done illegally it is graffiti.

We will have to agree to disagree, because even graffiti can be considered art, legal or otherwise. Plus there is art that is graffiti as well, and the same, legal or otherwise.

Not all graffiti is illegal, and not all art is legal as well.

Yeah Yubaru, here is this argument again. It is art if it is done legally. If it is done illegally it is graffiti. I guess this could be called, graffiti 'style' art.
