If you're a beef lover, you're gonna love Australian beef cause it's aged to perfection, cost effective and is tender, tasty and juicy. Give it a try! You won't regret it.

Aussie beef is cheap as chips also. .

There are well over 100 varieties and cuts of Aussie beef - ranging from cheap to super expensive. In fact, an Aussie Steak recently won the "World Steak Challenge" in London:http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-10-21/aussie-steak-win/6872094

When I eat steak (not often), I prefer Aussie beef as it tends to be much leaner than Japanese options. Just a shame this extreme right-wing creep Barnaby Joyce is representing the industry here...

Maybe wash it down with a couple a tinnies there young padwan?

Interesting that they made Barnaby wear a funny hat. It would have been nice if he had wearing a hat like that when he told those dogs, Pistol and Boo to "bugger off" from Australia.

Also, catch the expression on the mother (or whatever) next to the kid. She would do well on a Japanese food TV program with a face like that.

It seems a number of people on here need to learn a thing or two about steak.

And to think that Charles de Gaulle is said to have rather scathingly called Ikeda Hayato "that transistor salesman". Now politicians all over the world have simply become peddlers and stooges for business interests and are coming to Japan to do so. The paradox.

Aussie beef? What have they got to complain about......?

Aussie beef is the smart choice as most of the cows are out in the bush eating organic grass. Better than the GM crap from the U S of A!

I like Australian beef, and Australian steaks. But I'll take a nice marbled fatty Japanese steak over a lean western steak any day.

A large proportion of the Aussie beef market is destined for Japan and thus grown to strict specifications to create the marble steak the Japanese like. Given the recent JAEPA and TPP agreements, tariffs on Aussie beef will reduce significantly, which will see a huge increase in Aussie beef throughout Japan.

Maybe, maybe not, but that doesn't change the fact that it's absolutely delicious.

Australia breed great tasmanian marbled beef, its the high Japanaese tarriffs that make it expensive to import.

Hopefully some day I can try it.

My family just loves Aussey Beef. Less fat and we actually prefer tougher meat. It's also cheaper than Japanese beef. So it is a win win for us.

This Minister, to me at least, looks like the perfect representative to be pitching Aussie beef! Dude looks like he has eaten a steak or two in his life! Love the smile too!

Yum. Nice beret too.

Recently I started to prefer Aussie for stews and Wagyu (Matsuzaka) for steaks. I think growing older opened my eyes towards the Wagyu... That being said, a properly prepared good Aussie steak is nothing to complain about. As long as it's not from US...

Aussie beef is by far the best in the world

I've been looking for a free-range, grass-fed beef for a long time. From what I know the Aussie beef that makes it to Japan is free-range up until it's last 6 months, when it's then fed a steady diet of grain. Is this the case?

Saffer beef is better, but not freely available.

Beams: Sorry their not grow for the Japanese Market. They are breed, grow and feed to suit the asian market. The export Australian beef grow for export are a cross Bramrem bred known to suit dry desert condition of outback of North Australia and has little marbling. They are then fatten up in holding pens for 6 months prior to export. Australia Beef is known for its being Lean and juicy. That is what the majority of the Asian market demands. Just of hand I think there is about 10,000 head of Japanese short horn in Australia which would be lucky to be .2 % of the national herd. Which is only sold the the Restaurant business in Australia.

My family just loves Aussey Beef. and why wouldnt you cheaper, healthier, means you can eat it more often without the worry for your children. Fatty meat while its may taste good, has little protein content and not something that can be eaten regularly as its not good for your body. My father in law can cook Aussie steak to perfection, taste as good as any ive eaten.

Meh, aussie beef is alright, American and JP meat taste better.

Totally agree Strangerland. Note that the beef breed for australian export are cross Bramem. Beef in the north compare to the south is totally different. In the south the prominate breed is the hereaford and poll hereaford. It a smaller beast also compare to the Bramen crossed breeds. The steak that won the world steak challenge was from a Japanese short horn herd from Australia.

. . . . Speaking of beef. Where can one get Tri-tip here? I've checked Costco numerous times. Tired of eating thinly sliced beef & dipping it in Tare.

Aussie beef is very grainy...sort of like sandy. American has a much better texture. Aussie beef though is good in curries, redpper tomato sauce and other ways.

But I'll take a nice marbled fatty Japanese steak over a lean western steak any day. yep and your arteries will hate you for it. Australia breed great tasmanian marbled beef, its the high Japanaese tarriffs that make it expensive to import. Australian beef is the safest in the world , no madcow , foot in mouth diseases. They almost entirely grass fed with some grain feed, never use powered waste animal by-products as protein feed (cause of madcow). Dont use cheap corn feed like the US so very little antibiotics are used. Australian and western beef is mostly lean as that what the majority of there customers want, good tasting beef and much healthier than the fatty types

Aussie beef are cheap and not quite popular in U.S. The free range grass fed without details attention as Kobe or U.S. beef resulting in less tasty beef (sauce do not count). I have bought few times and agree with the experts of the less tasty Aussie beef. Well, shabu- shabu would be fine with lot of dipping sauce, mate!

Cute pic. I bet the kids thought it was fun, too.

This is the bloke who kick out Jack sparrow, pistol and Bo from Australia when they broke quarantine law in Australia. He will try his best to sell Aussie beef but compare to Japanese short horn is like chalk and cheese. Aussie beef is cheap as chips also. .
