Once took that road in late summer - pretty different to this. Always wanted to do it in this season - just so much snow!
Maybe not so bad just now on a weekday, but just thinking of mega traffic jams over Golden Week, and with a lane closed for the walkers!

When I went there two years ago, the route is not open to the public. You had to use the public transportation, so no chance of traffic jams. People jams during GW on the other hand...

One of my favorite places in Japan. Nice in autumn and spectacular in early spring. If you haven't been there, you should definitely check it out.
