Thanks EraiMaichin, I see they've amended the caption as well. He has the best look out of the bunch, pity they put Anne in that heinous design.

"Best 'Jeanists'"? You've GOT to be joking!!!!! Only in Japan.......

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Do they mean overall category as in the clothing or best-looking in denim? I can't trust the translation.

I have no idea who the guy on the far right is, but it sure isn't Kamenashi!

GW

arent any of you the least bit embarassed?

I think they are. They're just doing their best to look grateful for the honour.

(Except KK)

Is there a Best Assist award? Is Koshino wearing jeans?

Pointless, pointless, pointless award. I would, however, like to see the best mini-skirtist.

the_sicilian... These come up every week or so, the best jeanist, the best leatherist, the best cottonist, the best whatever-ist. Same kind of events, posh Tokyo hotel ballroom, vapid sponsor-laden back panel, organised by some obscure association related to the products that they are trying to push.... Just good ol' S. O. P. J. - standard operating procedure Japan

bebert, it's okay. There are some guys that like bow legged women. I have to say that while in Japan that is one thing I noticed a lot. What a contest, totally a waste of time.

Oh my g0d don't they all look bl00dy awful.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Doh! Ignore my comment above. That's him to our right! (Slinks away...)

This could be called, "Best Engrish we could come up with for some no ta-rent ta-rento" award.

I mean, couldn't they actually ask someone who speaks English as their first language to help them come up with this? How about, "Best looking in Jeans", or "The Jeans Fit Well" contest. Something.....

The only person who really deserves the award is Kazuya, straight, fit long legs, great fashion, great combination with the shoes, great taste. Well done, Kazuya.

The fact that there is now an 'overalls category' (Congrats KK! I knew you could do it!) in this event has amused me no end.

No 'stonewashed' or 'flared' category?

They all look rather stocky.

I do wear jeans, and from time to time it is nice to go with the "relaxed look" but the one on the far left, I think she looks like a hobo dressed like that. I guess the phenomenon of racing to the bottom as far as fashion goes is alive and well in Japan as in the states. My mother all ways taught me, it is fine to look haggard around the house area, but when you go out in public, at least have the decency to pull you pants up on you and act and dress like you have some sort of decency about you.

stupid beyond belief, hey you twits, arent any of you the least bit embarassed to be making such a$$es of yrselves......

Interesting that in that photo, Japan Today cut out Korean actor Jisobu (played the part of Yasha in the recent Gegege no Kitaro 2 movie. He's actually standing to the right of the J-geinojin. My theory is that it's because he's taller and way better built (competitive swimmer) than the J-guys. Here he is in "gegege makeup": http://blog-imgs-21.fc2.com/k/l/e/kleditors/jisobu.jpg

Chill, I was about to say something really nice about Kumi's legs.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I don't care one bit for the best "Jeanist", but its an absolutely waste for Anne to be wearing those ugly jeans when she has such shapely long legs.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Boy oh boy: Kumi's legs are the classic 'O' legs shape! Didn't she get any protein when she was growing up?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Kumi won@t win any awrds for best legs, thats for sure!

They are sooooooooooo bad, aren't they?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Shouldn't "Jeanist" be spelt "Geanest" in Japan? After all they are "G-Pan"

Kumi won@t win any awrds for best legs, thats for sure!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

A Jeanist! That's hilarious! Shouldn't it just be a jean designer? Or, how about a jeanetisist?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Ok. I just want to know how much a publicist has to pay to get their "talent" this kind of asinine award.

Best Jeanest.

WTF?

Thanks JT for posting a new picture. The previous one was ugly, ugly, ugly.

hahahahaha pure silliness again.

Olympic fencing silver medalist Yuki Ota, 22

Noone even knew who he was a month ago, and he doesn't fence in jeans. What a bizarre choice.

"Jeanist"?! Just another example of how English is all about tokenism in Japan

When I bust out my True Religions, it is all over! I could be up there with my Nike tongues hanging out!!
