I thought they meant S&M leather.

I have been thinking that "talent" is usually the incorrect word to use for a lot of these people. I think that a better term would be "media personality" as many of them are in the media either talking about something or selling something. No real talent involved, but maybe they have personality.

You heard it here first.

TokyoGas You've made an excellent suggestion. I feel the same way about "tarento" which is a purely Japanese word in the same way as "hiyaringu" (which means to take soundings) and "kure-mu" (which means to have objections to something). For "tarento" let's make it "media personality" from now on!!

Now I have heard it all - Best Leatherist! What the....? He looks like he belongs in a leather-men bar in San Fran. - she just looks completely vacuous! Just how many "-ist" awards are there?

Hey JT, why not group all these "best ...ist" awards under a new heading! Something like "Fetishes" would be good.

Best leathernist, LOL And she is not even wearing and leather that we can see.

Since when was there an "N" is the word leather? For Gawd's sake, you infants, if you're going to make a word up, at least have the good grace to spell it correctly. Bunch of halfwits.

And I'm with TokyoGas above.

Katsunori Takahashi is so freaking hot! not in this pic, though :)

I agree with Takahashi getting this coveted award, although I was looking more at his face.

As a person with a pet-peeve about inaccurate terminology, I think TokyoGas deserves a Nobel Prize for setting the misnomer "tarento" straight. From now on its "media personality". Everybody, make it so.

So anyway, at this rate, who won't win this award at some point in their "career"?

Hmm, leather goods.

I know a few shops that supply leathery goods to the discerning buyer. ;)

I don't see any 'leather'. And white dress with black stockings??

Hello Folks.

The pic was taken at the prize award ceremony not at the contest/judging time.

Don't recall any Oscar winners taking the award in the movie wardrobe either.

What the crap is Leathernist? Never knew such a thing existed and Why is it that Japan has a euphemism for everything talent. I agree, talento is used too loosely. Last week it was glasses and what's next, the pigeon-toed walking talent??? Give me break!

I wonder what the next "ist" is going to be?
