Big man

Visitors look at a full-size model of Japan's robot animation character Gundam in front of the Diver City shopping mall in Odaiba, Tokyo, on Tuesday. The 18-meter-tall Gundam was installed to promote the entertainment facility Gundam Front Tokyo, which opened last month.

...a full-size model...

Really? What, did they measure him? Anyway, he looks bigger on TV.

Authors of manga and anime get asked lots of questions from fans. You can bet a gundam fan has asked how big are the gundams and the author would have given an official response which would then be published ... for example one piece questions and answers are published in Weekly Shonen Jump... they include things from woman character busts sizes too how many outfits a character has and what their favourite food is.

So there, there is a little bit of probably not so useful information.

Deja vu? wasn't not already a picture of this a few weeks back? Amuro ikimasu!

Recent Picture of the Days have been very disappointing. This one is no exception.

Dennis Bauer: Yes and no. There was definitely a 'pic of day' pic of the robot a week or so back, but it was not the same picture. The first one was, if I recall, taken from further back and had much fewer people in it. This one is closer up and filled with people. Still... same subject, I agree.

The line to get into the offical gundam cafe was ludicrously long.

For scaling of things around the units when doing the drawings, one of the first things they would have done when developing the series was mark down the dimensions of the units. Therefore it would be fairly easy to build a "full-scale replica" of a fictional machine just by looking at the designer's notes.

And EVERYBODY looks bigger on TV. They say TV adds 20 lbs to your looks. Whether being ON TV or sitting in FRONT of the TV... they weren't clear on that but I suppose it's true either way. ;-)

WOW !!!!! it's VOLTRON " defender of the universe "

Is that a real title for this character or was someone making a galactic joke? Who's he defending the universe FROM? It's the UNIVERSE! By definition "the universe" pretty much encompasses everything. Now I could see "defender of the galaxy" because there are LOTS of galaxies in the universe. You could easily have a reason to defend one galaxy from another.
