Wow - great photo! The pandemonium of colors makes it quite a busy shot, but the focus on the bird (intentional) and the petal (probably unintentional but lucky) is fine.
I feel this image symbolizes Us, in the Now.
This bird is surrounded by a multitude of conflicting colors all striving for its attention, yet, despite this visual commotion, our bird looks ahead, firm in its belief that 'Yes, We Can find a worm today."
This laser focus, coupled with its obvious maturity of years and commensurate experience, is sure to set this feathered friend up for many more years of successful worm hunting.
Cool! Obviously this species of bird does not have conflicts with the resident crow population, which has displaced most of the other species of birds throughout Tokyo.

This pic was taken with a Canon EOS 350D with a 70-300mm lens, 1/250th sec at F5.6, 100ISO. Shot in RAW format then tweaked a little with Photoshop Elements and then converted to jpeg. That and a lot of patience trying to get a good shot as he/she was quite active!

For those of us who are hobby photographers, it would be good if you could provide some basic information on how the photo was taken.

What kind of bird? You wouldn't post a picture saying "A mammal enjoys..."

Unless it gets stepped on.

I reckon it's a White Wagtail (hakusekirei). They tend to fluff their fevvers out like that to trap warm air.
Cute.
(Do I get a prize, Mod?):-)

Beautiful shot. I love that he/she is standing on one leg.

how is this picture related to japan?
cleo
It was taken in a Japanese park, in the heart of Tokyo.
I think it's a lovely photo, and much more relevant than the usual yet-another-celeb shot.
LoveUSA
yes, without argument, this is a beautiful picture

I agree with Cleo: white wagtail, probably juvenile. Nice shot!
