beautiful...
it's kind of ironic that at shortly the same day this picture published, marking the arrival of spring, unthinkable devastation occured...
It's a mejiro (Japanese white-eye). Not a very creative name, but the birdies are pretty enough to knock your socks off. I think they're normally a bit greener, but this little fellow is in shadow.
Does anybody know what this bird is called? I have a bunch of aloe plants blossoming in front of my window, and exactly these guys come every morning and eat from the flowers. Really cute.
It seems way early. It looks like from now on instead of the Sakura being associated with a new school year, it will have to be associated with graduation from school.
I put out mikan & apples & stuff over winter & these guys are usually the first to show up, sometimes I swear they are yelling at me when I have nothing for them hahaha!
I think these are cherry blossoms. They seem to be growing in bunches on stems away from the branch which is typical for cherry blossoms . Also the petals have a little notch in the top. Early-blooming cherry blossoms? Correct me if I'm wrong.
Beautiful pic. Can any good person identify the bird?
an intimate feeling is emerging when you can enjoy this beautiful scene in your little garden at the back of your house ... Many Japanese residential houses have nice Zen gardens. Spring is coming. Emperor's park is decorated with blossoming cherries.

Time to break out the plastic groundsheet, giany bottle of nihonshu and spend a day lolling under a tree. My favourite season in Tokyo.

Yes, definately cherry blossoms. You can also see that the petals are slit at the tip.
The bird was identified by Goals0 as a Mejiro=White-eye as you can see from it's looks.
So beautiful. This is the best season in Japan. Hope I can take my kids on a picnic soon! Hanami-bento and all :)

A bit of research leads me to think it might be kawazu-zakura (Cerasu speciosa)... an early blooming cherry tree.

Look like cherry-blossoms here too, must be an early blooming variety. Bit too late for Plum blossoms already.
Very nice pic makes me want to hit my local parks to see how far along our Blossoms are. Plus, need to get ready for our local biig Sakura-Matsuri.

Nice fantasy. Most Japanese live in a shoe box. This picture helps bring out the nostalgic Japan of days before.

This is such a very beautiful picture.

I think that may be a mejiro (white eye), rather than spring, in the air at a park in Daikanyama.
Monaka
I think these may be ume (plum) blossoms, rather than sakura (cherry) blossoms; ume bloom at this time of year.

cute
