I have heard good and bad reviews of the movie, but still I look forward anxiously to seeing it. It dose seem HW is taking less risk with the consant stream of remakes and addons.

This isn't a remake, but is a very worthy sequel, IMHO.

If you have seen and enjoyed the 1982 original, then this film is a must-see.

If you enjoy sci-fi but haven't seen the original, then see that one first.

Else perhaps not.

Surely neither Ana de Armas nor Sylvia Hoeks is romantically involved with HF in the movie (?). Both beautiful women.

My review: a good movie. Although it shares resemblance to the first, it can be seen as one of its own league. That said, I like the first best. The noir atmosphere of the 1982 movie is inebrianting, unforgettable. The 2017 one has not a single element that causes the same sensation. Some scenes are quite cheap, like the one when the group of survivors are shown, or the drowning scene. All the scenes with replicants lack the feeling to make them more powerful and emptier than their human partners - bar the ones with Gosling, he’s great. They also lack the “automation” the ones in the 1982 show, like when Zorah dies after being shot. I liked the soundtrack, dramatic in a chill-out way. But it’s not up to Vangelis, not even close. My general opinion is that Villeneuve has not the insight and feeling enough to make it a 10/10 movie, though he had all the elements on his hands. It is an awesome movie. Gosling is superb, gorgeous. But I wonder if it will resist the impact of time. Anyway, it’s a must-see movie. The best I watched this year. Hope a sequel is on its way, but with another director this time. 9/10, IMO.

At the beginning of the movie, people will go "that's already happening to Japan!" lol

I caught this spectacular and riveting film opening day in San Francisco at the proper Imax. (We have two, and one doesn't measure up) Then I talked to people who went to see it in small venues. (Old theaters divided into three). I just shook my head. You wait how many years for this sequel, they give it the big production, a serious story, Imax shows, and you do what? It was a tremendous experience, a real event movie. I'm going back to see it next week at the same Imax theater. Here's what went wrong, though. The fans of the first film wanted to see what could be done, but the advertisers forget that these people still read print media. I remember seeing Close Encounters two full page ad spread in our Chronicle when it came out. You couldn't miss that. I open my weekend edition of the San Francisco Chronicle, and there isn't a single movie ad outside the box of theater listing. No image of the poster with a new review...nothing. Middle management in these film companies are simply getting it wrong. By the way, we just saw Only The Brave, with Josh Brolin, and it was extraordinary. Now get off your butts and go see Blade Runner. The right way.
