JT the fashion magazine. I am starting to feel like a chick.

desirable !

Typical, typical. As much as I am pleased that corporate Japan is catering to my lower sensual desires in promoting gender "bait" in order to try to sell things, I have to ask, what about pandering to women too! They are just left out in the cold. If these corporations had any kind of sense, or women at the top, they would promote a girl and a GUY as "commercial bait" instead of just a girl. Just saying!

Gee, how original -- painting someone all blue. I'm sure Blue Man Group is flattered by this imitation.

pretty obvious Avatar reference I would say

Smurfette!

If Blu-ray will make a person's skin tone look like that, we might all be better sticking with VHS!

I wondered what happened to her. After she left the Sunday news programme on NTV, she sort of just disappeared.

The Rat, Are you hoping for Ray Romano to appear in blue for 'Blue-Ray'? If Ms Kikukawa would smile, I think it would make for a better commercial. As is, fear is the first emotion.

What's up? -that pic is not high-Def.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

its giving me the bluuuuues

0 ( +0 / -0 )

And I thought the green chick in Star Trek was hot....

A quick 'n dirty PShop.

She looks like a night elf.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

She looks frozen and cyanosed in this blue! May i suggest using Japanese pronounciation of L becomes R, calling it Brew Ray, and showing some Brew-ed Beer instead? Beer is good when cold!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Some people are just not getting it. Her name is Rei (pronounced ray) and she is blue. Get it? Blue Rei. Blue Ray. Whatever, she looks good with or without blue paint. Recently purchased a blue ray recorder, and have regretted it a bit. One reason is the cost of the raw dvds. The other being that there are still a lot of people without blue ray, so I can't lend some of my friends dvds of TV show I recorded. I wonder how many people currently own a blue ray recorder/player?

Avatar coming to a cinema near you

Is she auditioning for a job in the Avatar sequel?

She looks cool.

For the "typical" JN woman, she will see this and think it is cute. That is how they are reeled in. Remember, everything has to be cute to sell.

Some people are just not getting it. Her name is Rei (pronounced ray) and she is blue. Get it? Blue Rei. Blue Ray.

We got it...just don't care.

Whatever, she looks good with or without blue paint.

That is the part that most guys care about.

I see she's still putting that engineering degree to good use!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I like it. Cool steel blue. Perfect for the product. Nice work of art.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Wow, great gender bait, I can't wait to go out and buy a $150 blue ray now that I saw a beautiful woman painted blue and wearing a non revealing outfit. As for using a woman to try to sell blue rays, they obviously know which gender is more likely to buy their products.

Oh, what skinny arms you have Rei! I think she's nice looking, but a bit too much on the thin side for me.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Freaky damn picture!!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

looks like a really slim blue hawaiian popcicle.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Interesting picture, and a good add, though the grey crap going from her neck to waist was a mistake. Nice frame on this young lady.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

She is quite alluring with that pigment.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Smith - that's a good point. This pic would be more accurately entitled "Grey Rei with a blue dress on".

Or is my eyesight going?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Horrible version of a Na'vi-wannabe...yuck!

For a person who appreciates artistry, the silver intricate bead-work cascades as a metal waterfall over the shimmering blue dress, down into the pool at her hips where after splashing over the belt of stones, more crossing beads spread out like ripples in a pond. There is a deeper artwork here than just the obvious 'blue-Rei' joke and the oooh look a sexy girl! "grunt". The fact that new tech is always thought of as big-boy-toys is not a shameful thing so there is no shame in the marketing here; sex is used to sell everything to men on an instinctive level and sales figures prove that men like our figures ^^ but for women there is also appeal in this photo. Rei stands in a pose of confidence with an expression of daring.. she whispers to us 'take it; this tech is something we too can claim for ourselves.'

Blue Ray is so overhyped, priced... get an HD-compatible DVD player is that is equipped with either a DVI (Digital Visual Interface) or HDMI (High Definition Multi-media Interface) connection. This connection transfers the video signal from the DVD player to your HDTV via the same type of video connection in pure digital form. In addition, this type of DVD player also has an what is referred to as "upscaling capability" and mine cost me... 8000 yen. Clear, crisp and beautiful.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Yep, hot in blue too.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

She should smile a little more. She looks, I dunno, kinda blue.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Actually, she looks shopped. I have seen a few shops in my time, and I can tell by a few of the pixels that this is not makeup.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

but now warner is offering great prices in japan on blu ray all coz of Rei-chan!

Another pointless japanese bimbo news on japantoday... The add in itself is really no big deal. They didn't think that much to make it. They just paint her in blue cause blue is fashion since the movie Avatar.

herefornow at 07:57 AM JST - 12th April Gee, how original -- painting someone all blue. I'm sure Blue Man Group >is flattered by this imitation.

The Blue Man Group was first formed in 1987. DC comics had already published The Watchmen with Dr. Manhattan in 1986. For those of us who can recall, the first Star Trek TV series 1966 had a few episodes of all blue and all green characters in them.

Kikukawa Rei graduated Tokyo University with a degree in architecture.

Sorry but I have to go my the comment of Junnama. I take it there is some meaning of others, like possibly a movie or whatever, but not to me.

What an oyaji to think up of this idea!

DC comics published Dr Manhattan a year before the Blue Man Group was formed.

At the end of the day, this is the WORST kind of advertising there ever is. It is "Hey, look at pretty girl. Now, associate that "beauty" and then buy our machine!" I mean, like WTF! This is so 18th century that it defies the imagination. If they were selling the girl, I could understand it, but this "association" between me looking at a girl and then going out to then buy the machine is so freakin weird. Stupid old Japanese executives. No wonder most of these companies are going bankrupt! They are wasting the money on stupid ads and after the work hour parties.

Yumimoto:

" Another pointless japanese bimbo news on japantoday. "

That "bimbo" has an engineering degree from Tokyo University, the most prestigious uni in Japan. How about yourself?

Here is hint: Looking hot does not equal "bimbo".

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I'd do the blue.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The Rat, you haven't seen the posters by Tokyo Police dept. have you? they are a lot worse...

0 ( +0 / -0 )

this ad works. i want blu rei now too (^_^)

0 ( +0 / -0 )

She looks pretty enough, but a smile goes a loooooong way, Ms. Blu-Ray Sweetie.

(Of course, maybe it was the photog's decision to use that pic and not hers...)

Wow, great gender bait, I can't wait to go out and buy a $150 blue ray now that I saw a beautiful woman painted blue and wearing a non revealing outfit.

I agree, I think all hot young women should appear in ads wearing only a coating of computer-generated chocolate flowing off their supple young thighs, like Erika Sawajiri.

yumimoto "bimbo" means poor in 日本語 and i am certain this Miss Blu Rei is not a bimbo. by the way fellas... this hot blue little # will give us the worst case of blu balls ever.
