Prime Minister Shinzo Abe holds an Olympic torch which was used for the London Olympics, given to him by Britain's Foreign Secretary William Hague before their meeting at the prime minister's official residence in Tokyo on Wednesday.

An entertaining pastime at the moment is to see how often the NHK evening news mentions the Tokyo olympics. Since the announcement of Tokyo's success they have managed to mention it nearly every day. Naturally, Rio barely gets a mention.

@Ossan. I hope Brazil will get some coverage closer to its time, but this is, after all, Japan Today. I'm sure there'll be at least a trickle of Tokyo Olympics news for the next seven years.
