AKB48 singers Atsuko Maeda, 20, left, and Yuko Oshima, 22, right, strike a cool pose with South Korean actor Jang Geun-suk, 24, at a promotional event for Aesthetic TBC at the Conrad Hotel in Tokyo on Wednesday. The trio will be appearing in a new ad campaign titled "Open your beauty" (signified by the keys they are holding). The campaign will consist of billboards in 200 locations in seven cities, posters at JR stations and TV commercials which will air from Sept 7.

This picture may give Moody's yet another legitimate reason to drop Japan's credit rating from Aa3....to?

"Open your beauty" : Typical.

Yuko looked really pretty with this hairstyle, you can see they full 10 minute presentation on You Tube.AKB48 are on a roll now too, latest single sold over 1 million copies in one day, their 8th single in at number one, breaking a record held for 30 plus years in Japan by Pink Lady.

Dude looks like a lady!

Absolutely...I think he looks like Ryoko Hirose, and I don't why women find him attractive. This just adds to my theory that a lot of J-women like and prefer feminine looking men.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

what are they trying to rekindle the style that was popular during the asset bubble? all we need is Tetsuya Komuro playing the keyboard

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Must be dark inside there........

Where are the "men" in the photo? The campaign is directed at the at the stronger sex, right?

Mr Johnny figured that out a long time ago. Just look at all the boy bands around that look like girls.

This guy actually looks a bit like Yoshiki from X Japan with those shades on.

Jang Geun-suk is such a great actor, he was just fantastic in 'You are beautiful'. So, doing this CM gives some extra spice to the comedy drama.

Maeda Atsuko reminds me of Erika Sawajiri here...

"Cool" and "vacant" are not the same thing...

Put big enough sunglasses on someone and anyone can be "beautiful." If you like bug eyed sunglasses that is. But be sure the wear them at night so you can endanger yourself and others while being "cool". I recently saw a girl crash over a staircase because she was walking along a dark street in huge dark sunglasses.

True beauty comes from having a personality. Something that fashion here trades away for uniformity. While Japan has lovely clothing, it usually has no tie to personality, making it an empty and uninteresting shell.

Perhaps they should be given a key to things like originality, personality, independent thought and then maybe cool will follow.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

If those sunglasses were any bigger they would pass as welding glasses. Why do so many people in this country think the bug eye looking sunglasses look cool????

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Gimme a break.

His nickname IMHO is frail Freddie. I've seen more meat on an eaten spare rib. Has the concept of acting and looking manly been lost.

Foxie: What were you saying yesterday about South Koreans and cosmetic surgery? Here we have yet again adds by celebs (one SKorean, I realize) for 'beauty clinics'. And who's the foreign model who's coming back to Japan to advertise for yet ANOTHER cosmetic surgery clinic? I realize TBC might be only an aesthetic salon, but the point is that cosmetic surgery is just as rampant (moreso, in fact) here than in SK by number, and per capita.

Anyway, the girls do not at all look attractive in this photo -- they look too skinny and pale, although the outfits are somewhat stylish. And why don't they start using Japanese instead of advertising everything in Katana English? "Open your Beauty"?? What the heck does that mean?

The girl in the center is kinda cute.

what's with the women of this nation and their unhealthy obsession with androgynous or otherwise gay western males?

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Looks like they are snapping their fingers to the tune of The Adam's Family.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

what's with the women of this nation and their unhealthy obsession with androgynous or otherwise gay western males?

mimitchy -- this guy is Korean. Since when does that classify him as a "western male"? Besides, if you have to tell people you are cool -- You ain't.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Korea is west of Japan, is it not? ^o^

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Just plain idiocy.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

mimitchy: "what's with the women of this nation and their unhealthy obsession with androgynous or otherwise gay western males?"

As herefornow pointed out, the guy is Korean, not "Western". What's more, there is FAR more androgyny in Japan than any other nation on the planet. SKorea has it's fair share as well, but many of those men who dress as such are often more muscular (in some cases due to the military training). Come on, I mean, where was the ridiculous term "herbivore male" born? As for the obession with them, be they Japanese, SKorean, or Western, I know not why.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

What's with the sunnies?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

AKB??? Looks like two hostesses and a new-half to me.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Someone forgot to tell Atsuko the bug-eye sunglasses already went out of style way back when.

That's right. Bono hasn't worn those since the Zooropa tour almost 20 years ago!

Open your beauty by covering your face with a bunch of crap. The world is collapsing in upon itself with all this superficial stuff. Do people even understand how stupid they are to spend all this time and money getting fake?

2 ( +2 / -0 )

They look like mannequins

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Big sunglasses = savings on cosmetic surgery

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Those 3 chicks are hot. Where's the guy?

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Looks like two hostesses and a new-half to me.

LOL, you're #1 today :)

If you call yourself a guy but wear make-up and have long hair, you deserved to be chan-goon-SOCKED.

smithinjapan: Although I would never perform cosmetic surgery on myself (I don't need that), it is true that many Koreans have surgery. A Korean once said to me why live miserably your whole life when it is possible to be beautiful and happy. After that I didn't condemn people again for having surgery if that makes them happy.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

@Foxie

Although I would never perform cosmetic surgery on myself

Me neither! You'd need nerves of steel and a hand as steady as a rock. And where would you get hold of the equipment?? :)

0 ( +0 / -0 )

lubracasi, lol, just take a knife and start cutting. What's the problem? I am pretty good at sewing too. The doc who performed my skin cancer surgery on me, taught me and I did it several times on me.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

that is not COOL BEAUTY. they are simply pitiful wannabes.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

@Papa A chasing 60 year old Bono would be the last person I'd be fashion tracking

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The chap in the middle doesn't look like a ladies' man in the traditional sense. I wish I could see the face of either of the women. They might be worth looking at.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

I think they've taken this Super Cool Biz thing a bit too far.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I think the girl on the right might be really good looking, but ya' can't tell with the reject sunglasses. As for the guy....or rather the heshe, what a dork. Hope the heshe doesn't wander into the wrong bar dressed like that.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I also thought they were three girls...lol.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Cool is the last word I'd use to describe this picture. The females look like kamen rider with those ugly over sized glasses.

smithin strikes again as the pro-korean cheerleader on JT, as expected. Nice try on putting a positive spin on anything korean-related.

Number? Just barely

Per Capita? No way in hell.

Many SK ladies here (US) look the same. They probably went to the same clinic to get their surgeries done..

2 ( +2 / -0 )

The one on the right looks like the result of breeding Darth Vader with a wasp.
