I thought she is freelance journalist :)
pathat
She is an undercover cop.
marsnairb
What form of biological is she?
TheRat
She looks like a terrorist to me. A fashion terrorist that is. But, as long as she is Japanese, you can see that the cops are not all that bothered.
masterkun05
Which planet should be the question.
SeasonedVet
So where are the fashion police then? Must have been busy judging the Best Formalistists.
namabiru4me
yikes!
SeasonedVet
Sure she's not a mascot for the conference?
USNinJapan2
I had a troll on the end of my pencil back in 3rd grade that looked exactly that.
Gurukun
Little early for Halloween, ya' think?
HonestDictator
I'm not with the fashion police but seriously that get-up frightens me.
herefornow
A perfect metaphor for Japan -- a young person, starving for attention, totally consumed by her two mobile phones.
Alphaape
Amazing. I wonder if she even knew what was going on in the conference?
Is this one of the women that was polled in the survey "Things that Japanese girls say that make guys go "Huh."
Antonios_M
(Bad comment on) Even the Teddy Bear looks like it wants to run away from her (Bad comment off).
nisegaijin
A woman? Where? I see an unknown life form. btw, cops look clueless... again.
nimbus
I wonder if he/she is one of the frequest posters here on JT.
limboinjapan
If I were the cops patrolling and international event like this one, I would be wondering "why does a woman(?) who look like that have 2 cell phones? No way she is that popular, is one a remote controls detonator? Is there a bomb in the teddy bear?
Busboy
Raggedy Ann returns...
yokomoc
Will she be paraded at the conference as an example of biodiversity in Japan?
tranel
Looks like the photographer unwittingly captured an entirely new species on camera. How timely.
SeasonedVet
Don't be so sure, look how many people have expressed an interest in her right here...
Beelzebub
I always wondered what happened to Raggedy Ann after she grew up...
tkoind2
"I wonder if she even knew what was going on in the conference?"
Wonder if she knows what's going on inside that hair?
cactusJack
Halloween is on OCT 31st.
IfeelImust
Clown springs to mind! What a joke!
bicultural
Ouch. I'm gonna guess she's 35.
funkyfresh
It has two phones, looks crazy, standing outside of a COP10 event?. Not suspicious at all? lol
m5c32
Hey, look at it this way, back home this one would be pushing some supermarket trolley/cart full of dear possessions. So, it's not so bad, afterall.
bobbafett
I think she is safe from cops with hidden cameras.
IronBeard
Moderator - Genuine Question ---
Do the people in these photographs know that they are being displayed on the internet in an open discussion forum?? I've always wondered about the legality if not.
Oh, and she does look like a troll - agreed.
Moderator: To the best of our knowledge, there is no law against news organizations taking photos of persons in public spaces while covering events.

the thing in the middle is fair game for news use, now if reuters started selling the image(hey just an example HAHA) then they wud need a model release or in this case a THING RELEASE
Alphaape
I agree, just another "kawaii" girl that is way past her prime. Whenever she does find a man (we hope) that guy will be in a world of hurt from her in regards to the mental trauma he will have to face.
m5c32
@ironbeard.
There's a long tradition of street photography in Japan. I don't think there are laws governing "photographers' rights" as in other places, except for some specific laws about not being able to photograph military installations unless you have express consent. However, if the subject feels you violated their human rights, they have a right to sue you if they can prove you brought some damage to them -reputation, etc. Basically you can photograph anything within view from street level. Like any other place, you will see "no photography signs" which have no law to back them but do dissuade people from taking photos.
Being that this is an English language site, the probability of getting sued by subject in pink is quite low.
ratpack
Guys you have it all wrong. This is actually a drill. The police were told to keep an eye out for a known felon who abducted a teddy bear in the area around the COP10 in Nagoya. She was last seen with a ghastly hairdo, a get up from a far away planet and two cell phones. As yet they haven't been able to spot her.
bonword
This is a Reuters photograph. Meaning it was bought/licensed for use by JT from Reuters. Simply put, legal responsibility is on Reuters. Fair news laws basically state that public areas - including streets are fair game. The lady and the police can expect no privacy as they are outside in a PUBLIC area.
I really wish people would research before commenting. Oh wait...then all the fun comments would be nil.
kujiranikusuki
THAT is not a women. That is just another clueless person stumbling through life trying to be different.
Jkanda
Thanks JT for the opportunity you have given us to have a hearty laugh in this depressing weather. I am just imagining what it would be like if all the posters were physically present and were saying these in their own voices.
Sarge
From the expression on the woman's face, she looks like she's thinking, "Cripes, neither one of my boyfriends is answering my mails..."
NuckinFutz
She seems to be texting herself (or the teddy is involved somehow!)
WilliB
What a photo! An entry for the "cool Japan" campaign? :_)
Beelzebub
One hundred and twenty five million people, and you succeeded in finding one who represents the epitome of self-absorbed narcissism. Congratulations, JT!
IronBeard
Thanks Moderator.
Still, I don't like people randomly filming the street while I'm walking down it. Feels like a major invasion of privacy.
Ironic comment, I realise - what with being in a public place and all.
IanMcGhee
helloooooooooooo! the convention for biological diversity is next door! it's obvious they all three are participants!
ACrowe
That chick's displaying more than enough biodiversity for my taste.
KinuyeOshiro
The moderator is correct. She is in a public place and if the Press is there to take pictures, she is fair game as she is somewhat interesting. More interesting is that there are men who would find her attractive both Japanese and american, and probably most men who have had a drink or 3.
KinuyeOshiro
For Ironbeard, a filming company would have assistants out with signs warning of filming in progress and if you still enter the area, you have been warned. This is a still shot so the warnings do not apply.
KinuyeOshiro
But as a photographer I would not want this in my demo reel. A shinjuku want to be or Holloween model.
