I don't have a moral issue with a girl dancing if it makes her happy to do so. The problem is that I believe that the entire structure in Japan is aimed and delivering women into one of two categories, Respectable Japanese woman (read as housewife) or Objectified woman (read as plaything, idol, thing to look at).

From the sexualization of young girls in Akiba to hostess and maid clubs to the massive sex and AV industry here women are largely treated as objects. I am surprised there is not more push back on this by women in Japan.

You can see this at most bars, clubs, and juicy bars near the U.S. military bases on Okinawa, especially Gate 2 Street. Except the majority of 'girls' are filipino and wearing less clothes and way more makeup than the girl in the photo.

In fact, you can usually see something very similar just walking around Gate 2 street area without going into the bars.

What's interesting about this is the whole social setting. She's likely not Japanese. Her customers are likely Japanese salarymen, who are either in sexless marriages or they're too geeky to get a date. The Ishihara's of the country are probably salivating at the sight, and think it's OK for some foreigner to dance like this, but would be marching in the streets if it was a Japanese dancer being ogled by foreign customers. They'd decry the low birth rate, but will do nothing to stop the rampant spouse-and-child abuse in Japanese society.

At the same time... look at how many posts this pic has garnered in less than a day! More than your average sarah palin the dolt article, or even Futenma or whaling articles. They choose filler that is effective, and clearly this is a success.

But the fact that they used the back light and that she is not moving at all, proves that this shot was set up on purpose, hence, an advertisement. As for the fingerprints, they probably did a bunch of poses/takes and the ceiling is full of dust because no one ever goes in this bar of full, unopened bottles. Overall it is mere amateur work trying to look like something 'wild' or 'enticing' et al but it does not look so at all to my trained eye. It looks quite setup and fake, indeed. If you go to the bar, I bet you won't find this girl there.

The girl is tensing her muscles because she IS moving.. a high-speed setting freezes her in motion with no real blur since she is not a speeding car just a swaying girl.. her face is NOT directed to the camera.. and her expression is strained (notice the right side of her face in the left side of the photo.. and her squint from the flash) as it would be if she were in motion, instead of calmly frozen in a pose. She is not posing for the camera.. if she had been the image would not be so stark because the flash would not have been needed, her pose would not have been strained but instead a casual sekushi stance and her eyes would be looking at US.

Yes. I never frequent places like this, but you have to have a heart for people these days. How much study can an adult do with no incentive for job improvement. Its a big crisis of our times, and I have a deep suspicion its only going to get worse.
