"Dark Knight" stars Christian Bale, left, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Aaron Eckhart meet the press at Roppongi Hills on Tuesday. Bale refused to comment on allegations he assaulted his mother and sister at a London hotel last week, saying it was a private matter. The Batman film opens in Japan on Aug 9.

"Do I look like a cop?"
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!

nice positioning of the batman logo behind bale's head like that!
i'm glad this film will be opening soon and won't have a 3-4 month delay like iron man... what is with that?
Altria
Peeps had better be careful, Christian Bale wasn't acting in American Psycho - just ask his mother and sister!
mikehito
must have been low budget picture - all dressed up like a dog's dinner?
Richard_the_First
No local 'tarento' to hog the limelight this time?

Altria,
Funny you mention that. Mezamashi Terebi has a spot on why Christian Bale was allowed into Japan even though he was recently arrested. Do you happen to see it, too? For those interested, basically since he hasn't been convicted of anything, he can come into Japan.
BTW, the first new Batman with Christian Bale was pretty good. In fact, I thought it was a nice improvement on the series. It would be great if this film follows suit.

I saw him on the news this morning, addressing the crowd in Japanese. Very cute. ;-)

Oh, and I also read that Bale's sister asked him for $200,000 and when he said no, she and their mother started badmouthing his wife and he got angry.

KissMint,
I saw that, too. The crowd attending the press conference loved him speaking Japanese.
Speaking of which Ed Norton, who spent time in Japan about 10 years ago, was also on TV this morning. His Japanese was actually quite good.

wasn't there, don't know what happened, but apparently there was a verbal assault which is illegal in the UK.
This got translated to physical assault in the Japanese papers and guilty in the mind of the public.

Thank you thank you for the beautiful picture of 2 handsome actors!

Would someone have a link to a video of this spesific one? Tried to YouTube it but no luck.
Nessie
Gyllenhaal looks like she's been cut and pasted together clumsily from several other celebs.
fleshmeatdoll
does anybody know whether there is an IMAX in tokyo? i heard this movie was done for imax, but there does only appear to be one in osaka.
Nessie
They lost Chen's baggage. Bale is wishing he could lose his.

Christian Bale is very hot!!!!

There is an IMAX theater near Shinagawa at the aquaruim. It is a short walk North of the station. Not a bad idea, but they probably will not bring it here.
ExPrinceska
Do you know how long Christian will stay in Japan and will he give autographs for his fans? I would like to go and have his autograph and take his picture! He is a very good actor. It is a pity he is so violent to his family...but nobody can complain of his appearance!
ExPrinceska
sorry for the multiple messages but I forgot to say that I love Christian's dimple and hair style. Few men can have such a short hair and look so supremely handsome. His dressing style is perfect too - negligen and sportive and very classy. Very good!

Maggie Gyllenhaal reminds me of Mona Yamamoto in this picture.

The first time I ever saw Christian Bale in a movie (Empire of the Sun 1987), he was speaking Japanese. If you've never seen this film it's absolutely worth renting. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0092965/

Out of all the Batman made movies I'd say this is one that only is better in introducing new cool Batman gadgets/tecnology which what he is known for. However, it was not great at all. As for Ledger, he is overrated in this movie and especially as the Joker. In no way did he make the Joker's character realized like Jim Carey did the Riddler. What a disappointment.
sowhatnow
Are you kidding me KitsuneYoukai? Heath Ledger stole the show on this one. He has brought Joker to such an incredible level, this movie personified the joker as the mean and cruel villain that he is. Kids growing up now will say Joker IS the worst of their kinds. Wouldn't you say Ledger took Jack Nicholson over this role?
nimbus
Very good movie. I don't think you can compare Ledger's joker with Nicholson's joker because one is the joker for the Dark Knight and the other one is for Batman. Although both series are about Batman, the target audience is different.
nimbus
I believe Heath Ledger died of an overdose of medication.
Nessie
Dark Knight, Joker. A Renaissance man. In the next movie he plays the Batterer.
sowhatnow
wow, i guess the rumor hadn't spread over to japan as much as it did here in the states. Heath Ledger did die of an overdose. It's been said that he got so much into his act as part of his method acting that the actor self-destructed, but this is why there is so much oscar talks in the air right now. Joker in this movie was creepy as h*ll.

KitsuneYoukai-
This by far was the best batman yet! Ledger's was the perfect joker for the Dark Knight! This movie was worth the $ and is worth another visit to the theater. This isn't a movie for children either, so if any of you plan on taking kids, i don't recommened it, might have some more killings out here. Not that movies make people kill.
gamera
I have seen it twice. The nice surprise for me was "Two Face". I had no idea what he was going to look like and it did not disappoint.
