At age 51, his net worth is an estimated $350 million, so I have to think he doesn't suffer much from people's criticism and sniping.

I am happy I am not famous. I would not know what to wear each day.

He has not had a hit movie in almost a decade...

sighclops -- huh? Have you never heard of The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise?

So far, the film franchise has grossed $3.73 billion worldwide;[1] it is the ninth highest-grossing film series of all-time and it was the first franchise where more than one film grossed $1 billion worldwide.

IMO, having the ninth highest franchise of all-time, and the first one to gross over $1 Billion, qualifies as a "hit".

I wonder if a single actor alive likes doing this part of the gig. Other than scientology nutter Tom Cruise that is.

I once loved Depp. To me he was my generation's finest actor and I felt any role was safe in his hands. And I loved the first Pirates movie.

And then more Pirates movies came and more pay day movies came and I could tell he was just making movies to buy more islands or buy more hats. He became a caricature of himself and went full on old Brando, just hamming it up in the same CGI flop after CGI flop.

And his style worked in his 20s and 30s and maybe 40s but now it seems like he's shrinking or his hats are getting bigger and he's wearing more necklaces and bracelets, he'll soon just disappear in his clothes.

I'll always remember you, Depp, as that young daring actor who wouldn't sell out, that young Depp who would mock the old Depp.

"I have 1 question? Who the hell is Johnny Depp? He must be a "has been" because I never heard of him."

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha What planet, no, what solar system have you been living in?! lol

These days I'd describe Johnny Depp in the same way that Earth is in the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy:

"(Mostly) Harmless."

He better get a contract with Marvel. Get to playing those superheroes. Sign up for Star Wars or something. I won't watch another Pirates movie.

Pirates and Transformers are done.

P.S I know Transformers wasn't a Depp movie.

Heard, and also seen.

Mr. Depp should be considered in light of another picture, 'Transcendence'. This one makes the skin crawl. Masterful? Hard to say. Major issue, Mr. Depp isn't in it. (?)

Mr. Depp has so much potential, and that is also weird to say after so many pictures. Funny, Donnie Brasco ends up being a Depp picture. Mr. Depp has an incredible range of embodiments and no one can doubt that takes discipline.

In Re previous: “For No Good Reason” it is a wise guess this sneaky little is making some exceptionally fine Depp pictures, maybe the cause of this photo op not.

The Rum Diaries was a good movie Depp played the part of Hunter Thomson.

Depp has more of his life behind him than ahead of him at 51 years. At least he makes an effort to promote something in which he has invested time. Possibly he likes Japan.

I watched "Trascendence", it was a boring movie, Depp doesn't do bad but does nothing to improve the movie either.

It seems that he's burnt after all the POC movies, which , incidentally I watched the first one and halfway the 2nd one i fell asleep, because lately he seems he's not putting much effort

I have 1 question? Who the hell is Johnny Depp? did you just get back from 30yrs stay in North Korea?

Mr. Depp is far more interesting than his clothes. (But, please)

For those who missed a very fine Depp production, please research “For No Good Reason”. Mr. Depp is doing his own amazing work, (spoiler alert - look for Mr. Bill Murray in FNGR), and learn an almost transcendent appreciation for both of these great actors and a shared appreciation for another more challenging character.

He's been coming out with some duds lately. (Pun intended)

He was incoherent and got the hook during the award ceremony a few months ago, too.

After he finds something better to wear, maybe he should start thinking of his fans (and his career).

The point is, Mr. Depp has to support the film. A sharp red/black cut with Amber in muted naturals featuring contrasting highlights, turquoise or amber, duh, the whole opportunity is lost. She is splendid and Mr. Depp knows his dees from does (duh-oo-z), why such a tragic failure? Where's Annie Hall? She wants her decade back.

The movie has gotten pure negative reviews. As a result, he's hoping that people in Japan would watch it instead. That is how a lot of actors are when they know the U.S. don't like it but go to Japan. Then promote it there and get good reviews because the Japanese don't understand a word they say. Not to be negative.

Johnny needs to play his best-ever character again - Captain Jack Sparrow! Arrrrrrrrrrrr!

White After Labor Day?. What a pair of rubes. Hey, Johnny, Shaq wants his hat back.
