Abe's meeting with all the world's ex-leaders recently!

Abe is the most pro-US Japanese pm since 2009, even though probably some people didn't notice it yet. Is this good for Japan? Everyone has its own answer.

Bill Clinton visit to Japan may be indicative of a move made by the US government to strengthen Japan's economy reason being is that both nations are strong trading partners and President Clinton is a man who knows how to get surpluses of income on a nation based on his simple logic; arithmetic.

Anyone notice Kennedy's got her Irish green on? Happy St. Patty's Day! Kanpai!

Yes. Its good for Japan Alex. Japan is being urged by Washington to step up its regional security role. But since there are too many Article 9 lovers here, the US will continue to play a leading role in the Pacific instead. The next time you look at a globe, find Japan. You'll discover that there are no friendly countries near it. Thats why most pm's are pro US.

Why isn't Abe wearing green?

Guess who's coming to dinner.

I disagree. Totally. :)

Kennedy hasn't made much of an impression as ambassador!

Both these guys are dear friends of the financial industry and global corporate giants. They probably toasted their success at introducing neo-liberal policy that benefits the business and investing elite at the expense of regular taxpayers and workers.

3 frauds in a row. What is Clinton doing here?
gokai_wo_maneku
Didn't even know Clinton is in town. It does not seem to be getting any coverage in the Japanese press. News junkie that I am.

That's because of Japan's tendency towards historical revisionism - and visits by P.Ms to Yasukuni shrine. If Japan took steps to reverse this situation - there would be far less antagonism

"Why isn't Abe wearing green?"
Maybe he doesn't feel the urge to pretend he's got some deep and emotional affinity with Ireland and the Irish, unlike eighty per cent of idiots in North America....
lucabrasi
""Why isn't Abe wearing green?"
Because he isn't Irish. Then again, neither are the other two.
Wc626
Aren't the Kennedy's Irish? (or of Irish descent?) JFK was Catholic right?
itsonlyrocknroll
Sigh Ambassador Caroline Kennedy appears to have floated leisurely off a Vogue cover. Not to be rude to Former U.S. President Bill Clinton, gooseberry does spring to mind, whilst Abe san adopts his customary insensate stock still bolt upright slight hint of a grin expression.

Please, No white culture to Japan.

Hi, @lucabrasi
You don't need to be Irish to wear green and drink a pint! But, the Kennedy's are Irish.
Their ancestors came to America to escape the famine a century ago. Kennedy becoming the first Irish catholic president was a big deal at the time. The Kennedy's are icons in Ireland. JFK's portrait was in homes, pubs, in churches and still is in some places even 50 years later after his death. And there are monuments around the country honoring JFK.

Now for Clinton, well Slick Willy claimed Irish ancestry despite being unable to prove it.

Irishness is a sore point. I was raised "Irish". The reason for my very rare surname ( never met anyone outside of the family with the same name) was its "Irishness".
But then the internet happened and I was free to do my own research. And that name is as far from Irish as you can get ( not one in the Dublin phone book), it's (aargh) French.
The therapy helps. And I drink a lot.
turbotsat
Have some Comté with that wine.
