This is not a beer garden

I've been to department store beer gardens and don't generally like them, especially not when you're packed in like cattle, as in the photo above. I don't like too many places that are that crowded. If you like them, then that's awesome. Go to them and enjoy them.

I would enjoy it more if I were in the shade, rather than sweltering under a hot sun.

I am not asking people to feel in a certain way, but to stop being embittered, which could bring more "positiveness" on this website. Wouldn't it be nice?

Maybe you should experience it instead of thinking that it "seems" this way and this way and this way, all very negative of course. But maybe I should also not giving people advice right ? Come on, put a comment on something you know and experienced, what a terrible idea !!!

It is not necessary a nomikai with colleague, people go there with friends as well of course, and that is really fun ! Im still looking for a very good one in Tokyo with a great view, maybe that one in Nihonbashi could be great. My best ever will be the one in Shizuoka on the rooftop of the station: great atmosphere, people, beer, food, view ... Anyone has an advice in Tokyo / Yokohama ?

Been to Kirin Beer garden in Osaka last weekend and it was..FAN TAS TIC! Great beer, lovely people, awesome view and great weather. Sundown with a little bit wind on the 30th floor. I would go there again in a heartbeat.

Organised, company-mandated "fun". I would rather go to the dentist.

Just a word of caution that yes, some behavior that is normally not accepted is generally permitted, however you would be surprised that any negative comments said to your boss can get you in trouble the next day and especially sexual harassment can get you fired. You would be playing with fire if you think you can do whatever you want at these events.

YES PLEASE, I Love to spend my spare time with my work mates. Listening to the same talk as I have to all week. It's an amazing and fun experience to see them drunk. What fun thing can we do next I ask myself.

I used to enjoy those when I first came to Japan. No longer. Too hot these days, thanks to global warming and the heat island effect. Plus my idea of a "garden" is not the hard, gray, green-less roof of a Japanese building.

So: no it won't close on september 1st but end of september like all the summer activities like this one; no it s not narrow nor cramped nor nothing, food could actually be good; nobody care about his jacket; no it s not that hot because it s on a huge rooftop, and YES even it s piss you off it s VERY FUN, something it seems most of you have a serious lack ...

Drink Up!!! It looks awfully crowded and hot, gathering from what,s on their plates, it doesn,t look like to " EAT UP" The tables look very narrow and cramped as well, not to mention the quality of the cutlery and crockery....

This is fun?! I'd love to hear their idea of torture...!

I suppose the beer gardens, like swimming pools, will all close on Sept 1, as per the manual of life in Japan, despite it still being hot.

To each his own I suppose but that just looks nightmarishly awful to me. I can't tell exactly what they're eating but it doesn't look at all appetizing. It's way too damn crowded and probably hot as hell. Like I said, to each his own but I think I'd have been calling in sick the day my company made us participate in something like that.

I'll just bet nobody dared remove their jackets until the chief gave them the go-ahead.

Perhaps the chief would like to take his jacket off too. I know I would.
