1-0 against a second-rate team is nothing to brag about. They're not going to go far if they don't improve.

They didn,t make sushi , they could barely get the nori out, let alone the wasabe, The dutch were lucky, Japan played better, Japan lost the game dutch played terrible only a deflected goal from sneider seperated the two teams...

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The dutch of the Euro were a lot better team.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Dutch played for goals and Japan played defense, the better team won. Japan could have but were too timid until it was too late. Now depends on Denmark as to whether Nippon can advance.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

oh no this is mean ....

0 ( +0 / -0 )

spudman - I second that. It seems the Dutch played only as well as they had to. Denmark-Camaroon is looking very important now.

If the Dutch made sushi, the Japanese wouldn't eat it anyway. It wouldn't be "Japanese" enough. Silly Dutch. Put your pipes down.

This is quite arrogant, but I am not surprised, being painfully familiar with the Dutch and their rude manner - evidenced in their game in this match too. I think they played rudely and clusmily and did not deserve to win, but were lucky. The Dutch remain what they are...

A rather strange banner comming from a country that eats raw herring.

Ha ha what a nonsense, its not arrogant its funny, you know funny? If someone is dressed like that, than you know that they dont take themselves too serious either. Dutch soccer fans are the some of the best least violent and most colorful in the world of soccer, IF you dont That (mark the capitals) then you`re not much of a soccer fan. And generalizing people in such a bitter tone like you do reeks of a broken heart. The Dutch I know are outspoken and frank, yeah sometimes bordering on rude, but also funny and dependable as hell. As for the game, the Japanese played a good game of defense and I think the Dutch underestimated them in the first half a bit....but if you look at the ease they passed the ball around, well they keep the best for last.

Why did the balloon boys make the sign in English? Did they want to British to know that the Dutch want to eat the Japanese players? We're they inviting them to stop by later for dinner?

@Nagoyalove: Well, I have lived in the Netherlands for quite some time and so am quite familiar with Dutch people and their ways, so I dare say it is not much of a generalisation I'm making when I say this is one more rudeness on top of all the arrogance. Unlike you, I'm putting this slogan into the right - Dutch - context. Use Google translate to go to any Dutch football forum and you can witness similar "manly" I'll-make-you-into-a-hamburger comments. Never heard a Japanese promise to make Dutch into olieballen or frites, though LOL.

As for the "being able to laugh at themselves": well, this IS a laughable statement for your part. I've heard so many Dutch people in all spheres of life admonish people around them to "not make fun of them" even when nobody was even trying to make fun of them at all. I find the banner in the picture offensive, especially at an int'l venue.

Sports fans are hilarious. I mean here we have 2 guys with painted faces and BALLOONS on their heads! Honestly I almost thought they were from a clown college!

"I'm disappointed," said Japan coach Takeshi Okada. I don't agree with You're coach. Japan is absolutely growing in soccer/football. Japan's men thit there best... Like Samurai has an acient tradition in Japan: Soccer/football is an old tradition in Holland. In Holland kids grow up with soccer/football. Holland is a soccer/football nation "pur sang."

When the Dutch-team has to play, the whole country colors orange and normal life stands still for 2 hours. Even on 24/24 duty's like the police, fire-brigades, first aid's ed. they go to a sunday's shift. For 2 hours there is no traffic, shops are complete empty in the whole country. Bosses and there employees are watching together the Dutch-team...

And a term like: "we gonna make sushi of te Japanese" I'ts like a "war-fare", but on a fair/ sportive manner. What if Japan did win the game? Then Japan made "sushi" of the Dutch...

So soccer/football is a game. In this game Holland never won a Worldcup, was alway's the second player... I hope and pray that Holland this year, 2010, play's defensive and tactic for the "points". Some of the best men are sitting on the reserve-bench. Ou're coach fortunely thit not have the earge to put these men in action...

You can call it "poor play" or whatever... The best play's/games are yet to come. Remark Holland: We get to the final of the Worldcup. And this time whe should win... Let the year 2010 be the year that Holland for once win's this cup... Whe've earned it...

So Maradonna: Holland is coming up to take revanche...

When this event may occurs: The complete nation of Holland is going out of the roof...

You have to accept the fact that no Dutchman can be a Samurai or even be a Sumo-wrestler. In Soccer/Football these rules are reversed... I've the deepest respect for the Japanese team. They are good... Stand behind You're team. ALWAYS!!! Even if they lose...

As Dutch whe've to stand always behind a team that got to the second place... Let us: give us the room, to win this time... We can use the power of the Japanese people. Let Japan for this time color orange... Fore Once...

To my bit of knowledge Holland with its larger players more experienced, as well, were the winners by one point. I was not able to watch on TV though some say the Japanese coach was not doing the best.

English is not the first language of the Dutch

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The sign is in English, because English is a global language. (Not that EVERYONE speaks or understands it however, but a large portion does)

Moet ik Nederlands praten om duidelijk te zijn: In de wedstrijd Kameroen-Nederland heeft de coach aangegeven voor de winst te gaan.

Translated:

The Dutch coach said I'm going for a win in the game Holland-Kameroen... I don't want to think about the matches that lay ahaid. I only think of the current matches..

Also, many and many dutchman/woman are trying to get a flight to Southern Africa...Where are going/groing to get orange...

Mark my words: The Netherlands meets Argentinië. Whe roll over the rest...

Greetings..

Congratulations!!! Japan got through!!! What a game!!! Stay growing in the game... Again my deepest respect for the Japanese team. And for the Japanese fans: Stand behind You're team, even if they lose or win...

And after now: The real game starts! If a team lose, you're out... Man: what a WorldCup. Italy and France are out. Holland and Japan are trhough...

For now ou're teams have to go for the knock-out system. Let the soccer/football stadions get filled with the "blue samurai" outfit. Japanese people who stands behind there team. Like the Dutch turn to orange...

That's sport: To feel it in you're bones, you're complete body...

And don't be afraid/disappointed to lose. Every 4 years there is a worldcup. As a country You only can grow to it...

As told by me, the Dutch never won a worldcup. Whe're always the second player. I hope and pray that the Dutch this time takes the WorldCup... What an sensation to come fore ou're country's...

Whatever may be, I watch also the game(s) of Japan. I love that country.

Greetings AND may the best win...

It's like a BLOG for me here. No response...

The Dutch again are through ;-)) ...

Playing like a team and not as a bunch of inviduals... That's what Holland makes so dangerous...

Ou're coach had the guts to take out some of his star-players at the end of the game... If they liked it or not. The team: Holland, comes at the first place. Not the bunch of star-players.

This time We gonna get to the final as a team...

And for all the soccer/football fans in this world: A team starts with number 11. The goalkeeper. Stekelenburg is ou're number 11. Man: the Dutch have an "goldkeeper"...

If a team plays "bad" everything lays on number 11. The goal-keeper. The Dutch have to rely on there own goal-keeper...

Stekelenburg is absolutely the best player in all Dutch games. Arjen Robben is minor to Stekelenburg: Man, what a goal-keeper. Arjen can score as mutch as he want's, the fact that counts is how many goals Stekelenburg keeps out...

As Holland wi'll survive with this team... There's no enemy, just an "oponent", whe'le just "roll" over them ...

Just for once the Netherlands takes a lead to the WorldCup. Take down Argentinia with Maradonna and his "bright-face." As a country -the orange- wi'll completly roll over Argentina.

If Argentina can't bare this lost, it will be an ancient game between the Dutch and the Germans...

I really hope for a final between Argentina and the Dutch... Let's do oure best...

And luck the rest...

Greetings,

I waited for the match Holland-Brazilie to enter my "blog" again... As a team you have to learn and accept to lose a game. There will always new games to come and Japan is still growing forward... I watched the game Japan-Paraguay and recognized the result where Holland-Brazilie in the past came out: panelty-shooting. The Dutch where shoot-out by Brazilie.... As told: In this case everything depents on You're/Ou're number 11, the goalkeeper. Japan does have a "goldkeeper": Eiji Kawashima who did his enormoes best. He's 27 years old with no Worldcup experience. Remark that after this WC he've learned very much. So don't put him away. He is young and only can grow in the games yet to come. And what is very important: Let the young generation goalkeepers be trained by him. Let him coach even on this moment the next generation. Within 10-15 years Eiji Kawashima can grow to his max. After that comes a time for "fresh blood" in a football-team. Always invest in "new blood." That's what the Dutch do... Always create a next generation of football players.

AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS: The Dutch "roll over" Brazilie. Where just one game ahaid to my "dream": Holland versus Argentinia. Where whe roll over "pluisje" Maradonna in the final game...

REMARK also the fact that the Dutch never have lost a game into and during this Worldcup. That would be it!!! The Dutch winning this Worldcup...

For once: Let Holland win this cup!!!

Greetings....

Uruguay versus the Netherlands:

Man, ooh man what a Worldcup... Brazilie and Argentinia are knocked out!!!... Spain, Uruguay, the Germans and Holland are still in...

If the Dutch roll over Uruguay and the Germans over Spain, there will be an old and ancient game: Germany/Holland...

I really hope that Spain wins, otherwise it will be a "war" between Germany and Holland. I don't like that: football is a sport, not a "war"... There is an ancient "hurt" between the Dutch and the Germans: called "the second World war."

Whe call it "walking over eggs". So it is good that one of oure country's lose the game. Let it be the Germans...

Let the final be the Dutch against Spain...

Greetings,

0 ( +0 / -0 )

So it will be: Spain against Holland...

May the best win!!!

Greetings

In Germany there is an inktfish/Octopus who can forespell witch Country will win the Cup...

YEH!!! Right!!!

Some Germans threath to kill that fish/Octopus. Can You believe that?? Humans who wan't to kill a fish/Octopus... That's stupid behavior...

These men have also the brains of a fish. If that fish knows the treath he/ she's in... German behaviour...

The Dutch have only one game to play... From 2008 t'ill now they've'nt lost ANY game yet...Inktfish or not... Ou're coach/team ONLY have one mission. To go/get for the Worldcup...

Whe "roll" over Spain... MARK THAT FACT!!! Whe're not here to "play a game", whe're here to get the cup!!!

And whe're back to the start of this BLOG: THE DUTCH ROLL!!!

Greetings...

What a final... In Dutch we call this: "een zinderende finale..." Again, the 3th time we lose a final cup. We have to be good loser. And don't say that Spain is a good winner. Both teams played on the edge...

If Spain was mutch better, the've rolled up the Dutch team within the first 90 minutes. For the same money the Dutch got through...

For me, the best teams where in that final moment. Again the Dutch have to go for the final in the next 4 years...

I have to wish Spain good luck with there first World-Cup. It's not from my hart... The Dutch where really good...

Greetings and let's meet the Dutch in theb next final...
