Yeah! We all support large-scale indiscriminate murder sans legal representation in the guise of cleaning up our country! Woo hoo!

The women all look like Philippinos. Anyway, Duterte is an "Omoshiroi Ojisan." Interesting daddy.
ThePBot
Again, people don't really know how popular this guy is in the Philippines and the diaspora. His election win was a huge landslide for starters, and he remain popular since he's sort of different. Previous administrations had abuses as well, but no one complained since they weren't really anti __. So he's different. I wouldn't be surprise if there is a __ backed coup against him soon.

Like did you expect Japanese? I just want to know how much they were paid to be there AND smile.

@ThePBot You hit the nail on the head. I know several Philippinos who have expressed the same opinion about their President.

Not all asian leaders are anti-Japanese. Actually many are fans of Japan. Exceptions are only Korea and China.

Of course they're Filipinas, nobody else would flock to see this monster, he is not normal.

Duterte is the Donald Trump of the Philippines. I would think that like Trump's dismally low support of American expats, Duterte would also have extremely weak support among Filipino nationals living abroad.
bass4funk
Nonsense, Trump never called for the murder of drug dealers or to kill anyone that is underserving. smh! This guy as bad as Hugo Chavez.
sn00z3
You can call him anything you want, the only people can criticize him is the people who voted for him.
GyGene
I agree with him on cleaning up the country of drug users and pushers that have ruined millions of lives. And trying to stop government corruption. Philippines seems like one of those places with some potential, if, IF they can learn to properly rule themselves and stop crime. Crime will kill a place faster than about anything.
Alfie Noakes
Just a few weeks ago the media was lauding Duterte as a "robust" leader with a refreshing, "no-nonsense" approach. Now, following his supposed pivot to China he's a gum-chewing psycho death squad nutter who can't be trusted in a room with the Emperor of Japan. Have we gone back to the 80s? This is like Marcos, Noriega and Saddam Hussein all over again.

You guys have no idea about what's going on in our COUNTRY everyday. I admire Japanese people but you don't have the right to say anything bad about our President. I personally did not vote him during the election but I could see that of all the Presidents who ruled our country, HE is the most hands-on one. HE simply HATES DRUGS because of the damages it caused to the Filipinos, especially the young ones. He has a bad-mouth, I know that and I hate that, too. But if ONLY you could experience living here, definitely you would agree with PDU30 about his war on drugs. HE IS NOT PERFECT guys, but despite his dirty mouth, he's giving us a CLEAN GOVERNMENT.:)

Snooze,

Keeping your head in the sand and your mouth shut is an important political strategy for some people; not people who care about human rights. Besides, if a political party decides X is illegal, should it be okay to kill people who do X? Well, if you didn't vote for that party, shut up.

GyGeneOCT. 26, 2016 - 09:29AM JST I agree with him on cleaning up the country of drug users and pushers that have ruined millions of lives.
How do you know thousands of these people that were killed were really drug users and pushers without the due process of legal rights? Where is the evidence? How many innocent people were killed and destroyed the family based on rumors? Is Philippines is democratic country?

trinklets2 OCT. 26, 2016 - 10:57AM JST But they never realize that the lives of all Filipinos are at risk too due to his unclear and vague pronouncements.
Most Filipinos depends on other countries for their livelihood. The main trading partner is Japan, U.S. and China. If Duterte is talking about "separations", he should follow through. There is no big loss for Japan and U.S.

Tina:
You are right . Most posters here are Amerikanos like those in Kadena who looks down on Ryukyuan , Japanese and some Philippina women in Okinawa too!
Most of them haven't even been to the Philippines yet they already judged Duterte as a killer when they remained blind and mute about the thousands of women and children killed in Afghanistan , Iraq , Libya and the ongoing massacres in Syria.
Duterte is trying to make his country safe and progressive . The former elite ruling oligarch who are used to graft and corruption are trying to oust or even kill him with help from CIA.
Yet many ordinary folks support him.
I have been to outreach programs in the PH and I know how fear rules the airport, the streets , taxis and jerpneys there. You are only minutes from robbery, muggings and even kidnappings!
The police in the past are feared cuz some are in cohorts with crime and drug syndicates.
Glad that PM Abe knows the true story of why Duterte is loved by the majority of his people.
Only those who read the biased propaganda of the victorious western/Amerikano media who lauded the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and the carpet bombing of Tokyo view him as a killer in their simple and biased minds.
Japan must support his war on drugs and criminality and be a reliable partner in Duterte's goal to improve the lives of the Philippino people.
TigersTokyoDome
PhilippinA - good luck with your new world 'protected' by China and rejecting the USA. Maybe go and ask the African countries that got into in a relationship with China how they are doing now. Answer = rejected and broke.
Hiro Nobumasa - crime around Manila is shocking. But, oh surprise, the majority of the crime is due to extreme poverty. As in not being able to eat. Not just by drug addicts. So don't get upset when Duterte cannot stop crime around Manila and then starts executing people for being poor. And the Japanese are extremely strict about drugs. Zero tolerance. But they don't feel the need to execute people in the street.
A.N. Other
What kind of hell-hole must the Philippines be for people to not only vote but also cheer for Du30?
Hiro S Nobumasa
The PH after six years of Dutert will be a safer and less corrupt country.
America hates him cuz he stopped Sam's plan to use Palawan as the springboard to war with China.
He doesn't want his country to be another Aleppo.
The traditional elite ruling oligarch wants him out cuz they hate his war on graft and corruption .
These women working in Japan are happy to see him cuz he's their only hope that their children and grandchildren will not experience the difficulties of working away from home in a different culture like them.
Hope Japan will be a partner for building a prosperous and safe PH!

It’s easy to despise what you cannot have. That's what can be found from most of the comments here. Reminded the story of The Fox and The Grapes.

Let me say this. Duterte won by approximately 16.6M votes. He has a high popularity and trust rating so far. BUT, not all Filipinos are idiotic to support him. There are several of us who remain very critical and who don't support what he is doing or saying. We hate his manner of talking, cussing, cursing, using gutter language, and his uncouth manner of behaving.
toshiko
They. have same color of hair like Japanese. Many of them mighty bestudents. Many things he does must be popular. We are. all. Asian anyway. Some girls wore kimono like we do

It seems that there are too many offenders and criminals all over places in Philippine. Innocent honest people are very afraid of too many crimes happening here and there all the time. I don't support Duterte's way without justice but something understandable about people's reaction.
stormcrow
I'm not against Duterte arresting, trying and executing drug dealers, but that's not what he's doing, is it? No, the problem is, as Obama stated, is that Duterte's not following the rule of law.
Allowing and encouraging the police to act as judge, jury and executioner on the street is a scary thing for so many people to be gung-ho about.
Hiro S Nobumasa
TigersTokyoDome:
You are right that crime in PH is poverty related.
But there are also crimes committed by the super -rich ruling political class whose bread and butter is graft and corruption that bleeds government coffers to the bone.
Powerful politicians and police generals who are in connivance with druglords rule with impunity while neglecting the poor.
Duterte is trying to stop all this.
Are you suggesting he gave candies to the hardened private armies of the drug syndicates and ask them to surrender?
ThePBot
Who's Obama to say that though? He approves drone strikes that mostly kill innocent people without any due process, which by the way is a relative and valid point, since we're talking about the rule of law here. Like one poster here mentioned, you'd have to live in the Philippines to know. I've lived in the south of the country for years and guess what, the city I was living in was a known drug producing city, and the drug lord was the mayor that won contested endlessly. He's also a known gang leader. Killing addicts on the streets cannot be justified, because they need to be rehabilitated instead. But I'm just trying to give a perspective that might make people understand more why he's this popular, even among Filipinos abroad.

Seems to me the Philippine community that is complaining the loudest about him are the one's not having to live through the chaos and problems that are occurring daily in the country due to the drug problems there. They got out, but they seem to forget those that are living in the slums and are threatened daily.
I hope you never forget what you wrote here, particularly when it comes to a Japanese politician.
theeastisred
I bet most of the people in this photo are just marking the visit of a high-level representative of their country to Japan, and not worrying about the politics too much. I agree he is a total maniac and I think anybody has the right to criticise him, but we should not assume the people in the pic are necessarily supporting him.
Hiro S Nobumasa
stormcrow:
Those killed by the police killed policemen too!
They are armed and ruthless but their killings of policemen are not reported by the media.
Duterte's order is kill them if they draw their guns and resist arrests not just indiscriminately shooting them.
No media report about this either so you are misinformed to the bones .
stormcallsthestorm
The problem with Filipinos abroad is that they do not get to experience the horror and embarrassment of having a leader like him. It may seem that the whole nation supports Duterte's pronouncements and policies, but that is not the real case. There are many people who do not like the way things are going on here. There are some who voice their displeasure, but some remain silent for the fear of being attacked by rabid Duterte supporters. MOST Duterte supporters spew bad words and ad hominem attacks but do not provide valid arguments about the issues being discussed. This is very evident in social media forums and in the comments section of the websites of local news agencies in the Philippines.

My friend was there... she's not in that photo but she's a big supporter of Duterte. They didn't have to be paid.
Personally I think he should be standing trial for facilitating and inciting mass murder.

So, no media report, but you know it all, I guess, eh?
"They are armed and ruthless but their killings of policemen are not reported by the media."
So, then, how do you know if it's not reported? Because a person who commits crimes against humanity says so?
How about the fact that he is happy to be called Hitler, and even proud to be known as such and aspires to be like him?

Goodluck to our country and for all those people who comments that our President is a "bad guy" , you are all definitely wrong! would you rather want innocent people to die in the Philippines because they are victims of drug addicts, and other wrongdoings of bad and crazy people??? There is no extra judicial killings in our land!!! only bad guys are being killed!!!! FYI!!!!!!Our country has been under CORRUPTION by a lot of GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS for the longest time, and now we are so blessed to have PRESIDENT DUTERTE because he is not a corrupt man!!! so for all of you who doesn't watch full interviews given by our president and just believes on edited ,twisted news being FED TO YOU by the oligarchs, puppets etc or ANTI DUTERTE people, oh well I PITY YOU!!! We love our President and we are so proud of him!!!!!
notagain
They don't live in the Philippines so they can afford to like him.
commanteer
One thing he does have on common with Trump. The detractors of both are on a non-stop/non-thought bandwagon of name-calling and incrimination - yet they never stop to ask for even a minute why both "monsters" are so popular. They are happy with the facile assumption that their supporters are stupid or primitive. Oblivious that such assumptions make them the stupid or primitive ones.
One must look at the good he is doing as well as the bad. And before calling him a murderer, one must ask if their own president isn't a bigger murderer. Drones kill too.
But of course, it's much easier down-vote such ideas, as they are uncomfortable, aren't they?
Strangerland
I posted this about Trump just the other day:
DocCarlos
Remember the Intelligence factor of these pro Backers of The PI Duterte Trump they are not the ripest banana of the bunch

If people will always be misinformed about the real issues in our country then it will be easy to have a negative comment! You dont need to be a supporter or hater of President Duterte, just be open minded and know the good things that our country is experiencing right now. crime rarte is lesser and that is enough for us to be happy and proud! we want to live in safe place and if we can just send all bad people in one isolated island and to stay there for the rest of their lives!!!!! then the Philippines will be a safe country to live in!!!! so good people can live in harmony and peace with each other.????????????????????????
commanteer
Sorry Strangerland, but you are just repeating the standard trope about Trump supporters. Scared, white racists and anybody but Hillary. (I am neither of those.) Do you know that polls show more black support for Trump than for any GOP candidate since 1960, for example? Are not Hillary supporters scared of Russia, scared of global warming and indeed scared of Trump? They sure seem like the party of fear, don't they? It's not that difficult. Even Michael Moore now is starting to get it.
When you are able to describe Trump supporters without looking down your nose at them, you may be starting to get it. You have to leave the warm and comforting bosom of sharing the media supported narrative that says you are smart and enlightened and the others are inferior.
Ditto with Duterte. If you cannot understand his appeal without resorting to cliched and comforting stereotypes, you will never understand what is happening.
Strangerland
There are always exceptions.
There are always exceptions.
I have no opinion on Russia one way or the other myself. Anyone not afraid of global warming is a moron, and Trump is something to be feared. So yeah, maybe we are the party of fear, because the Republicans are doing all these things any sane person would be afraid of.
I only look down on the bigots, misogynists, and homophobics. You'll see that I don't look down on all Trump supporters from this comment:
You'll see I've put these people at an equivalent level to myself, just with different concerns.
noypikantoku
Please take note, The filipinos here don't represent the entire Philippines, not even 1 percent. most of them just go with the flow and really clueless about what exactly is going on back home as most of them spent half of their lives already here in Japan. They don't really read and hear the news properly but depend on heresays and gossips. They just follow what is trending, just exactly like PINEAPPLE PEN, and since DUTERTE is in demand! they all hop and bandwagon. Duterte said in front of them that his goal is to stop sending over filipino workers abroad and convincing all filipino immigrants to go back to Philippines, I bet these people will be the very first ones who will oppose to that idea if ever it will be pushed through.
Hiro S Nobumasa

This is the problem with Duterte, he is very inconsistent, He is right hand BATO was even encouraging the public to burn the houses of any suspected drug dealers/criminals! Now what kind of leaders would encourage people of unlawful acts!? what if these suspected and alleged criminals were proven to be innocent in the end? these guys are messed up!
http://edition.cnn.com/2016/10/26/asia/duterte-us-comments/index.html
DUTERTE Admitted that it was true that he was part of the Death Squad! That came exactly from his dirty mouth, so what would be your excuse again for these when these statements all came directly from him!

people trying so hard to discriminate Filipinos . And for those people out there also criticizing how are president governs our nation , you try to lead our country , try to point out those drugs users who also kills innocent people for their satisfaction and people from the high position who's doing corruption , getting money from taxes , they become richer while poor people doesn't come into existence anymore. You might be able to fix this problem in our country without killing anyone. You don't know all what is going on in our nation because you ain't here. Everyone of you here just listens to the rumors others are spreading out. I suggest , you all go and also get evidence from those defamers. Not with what our president is doing. You should ask those hypocrites giving you false information about our country's rules and regulations. You are not the ones who are suffering. It's us, but you have more mouths than us.
noypikantoku
creleigh
I am also a pinoy, I don't think I am discriminating, I am being honest and just saying that many filipinos have really poor judgement on these things, especially for electing Duterte. Why? because filipinos make decisions base on their emotions without thinking things further. Many filipinos cannot get satisfied,Many filipinos always complain, many filipinos cannot wait and follow the process and want to take everything they want immediately! and these negative attitudes are what trigger many of us to make wrong decisions on electing wrong people and for the elected people to do corruption.
See! this is what I meant by filipinos being too emotional and as a result we explode and become narrow minded. Why not instead challenge yourself and think about WHY many people are criticizing the president? We all don't want drugs and crime, what we Duterte critics are asking for is simple, to get rid of drugs and crime in a strictly constitutional way. You cannot just point fingers to someone and claim that he/she is a drug dealer/user and shoot them dead without proving if the allegations are real or not. yes indeed the allegations could be right, but what if it they're wrong? Prove first if the people arrested are indeed drug delaers and if proven give them the right punishment without any special treatment. What if the alleged drug dealer who got killed is innocent? can you bring back his life? how can we prove now that these 3000 people who got killed by the cops are all really drug dealers? we can't prove it now becuase there were no court trials.
Give us evidences too that all the 3,000 people go killed are GUILTY and PROVEN drug dealers.
I am from the Philippines, that's why I know what our problem is, The things that we need to do to solve our country's problems are getting rid of the corruption and making our Justice system solid and efficient. if these 2 are being done properly, then all these problems including DRUGS will automatically fall apart because they're obviously caused by corruption.
But how can you beat corruption if Duterte will give privileges and pardon the big time corrupt politicians like the Marcoses, Estrada and Gloria Arroyo? How can Duterte beat corruption when his cabinet is consists by his personal friends and the people who helped him win the election and not with the people who will really qualify for the positions.
How can Duterte make the Justice system efficient and solid if he authorizes extra judicial killings? As a filipino I don't want my children to live in a crime free country with fears, I want my country to become a crime free civilized nation.
MJ Dayta
Who are you to call him monster? and compare him to Donald trump ? he's far from that! have you ever lived in the Philippines ? do you really know what is happening in PH? don't just listen to bias Media!
Hanshiro Tsugumo
He's my hero.I wish we had a Duterte in Canada, instead of these whore politicians who couldn't care about their nation and are only interested in buying votes. And to you all idiotic detractors,Fok U.The monsters are the drug dealers that are destroying tens of thousands of lives in Canada alone and causing so much chaos in society,as well as the people in the judicial system who let them get away with that.
