we saw the graduation photo 3 weeks ago... now we see the entrance photo. They still are all dressed like they are going to a funeral...
Saiaku
They should all go purikura on this with peace signs. Show that the royals can be amusing.

Funeral dress in Japan is plain black suit and tie for men, plain black dress with pearls for women. No exceptions.

School on a Sunday?

Congrats!

JeffLee, it's just an entrance ceremony. Which often takes place on a day before the school year starts.

Congratulations Princess

The picture gives the impression she's not going to have any other classmates..

@kimuzukashii: The attires do not look like funeral attires. They are not in plane black kimonos. They have shoes on,too. Bwaide that, Princess has school bag, not in funeral.
@saiaku: They can not have peace sign as they are prohibited by Constitution,
Jessica is right.
Congratulation Princess !: A happy school days

Jesus, I remember when she was born. i am getting old.

" I am getting old!" LOL Your right Irishosaru, we all are. But today, Princess Aiko should be very happy. School was always a happy time for me. All the new and old friends I made. I still think of them today. That was over 50 years ago. Yes, we are getting old. I just wish my hair would turn white instead of this yuckie grey. LOL

Man, she was born the day after I came to Japan. I've been here way too long.

You may not like they saparate schools with girls and boys at Jr. HS. However, at least she does not have to face bossy boys in class room and play ground, There are people who blame like Crown Prince only had one daughter instead of a boy. Not easy life beside consitution regulations, Naruhito has also shared the blame for his wife’s failure to have a boy, which prompted a politically charged debate about whether to break with centuries of tradition and allow a woman to assume the Chrysanthemum Throne, one of the world’s oldest hereditary monarchies. This debate was halted three years ago when the wife of the crown prince’s younger brother, Prince Akishino, bore a son, ensuring a male successor for at least one more generation. I am sure she sill have happier school life now. Remember time when her mother had to sit with her in 2nd grade to encourage her to be in class?

Yeah, know how you feel. But what is even funnier, I remember when Prince William was born and now look, he's a father now! So I feel even older!

Aiko's life is nice. Being both a princess and the daughter of a Harvard graduate (Masako Owada, class of '85), she's virtually guaranteed admission to Harvard in the year 2020.
toshiko
2020? She will be in Gakushuin Joshi Daigaku. She may get freedom to go enter Harvard but Japanese female going to a university in USA graduate from Japanese University first. So, no chance in 2020, especially as only a child of Crown Prince and Crown Princess. One thing lucky for her is she does not have to study vigorously at Togu Gogakumonsho if she were a boy. 7 years for many subjects with selected genius type classmates.. Her life is not nice. Look at the picture. You can guess how she feels. Anyway, boys will not bump her accidentally to scare her now. She had bad time in sho-to-ka. I heard that she refused to go to school so her mother sat at her side in Sho-to-ka class.
