Fire night in Nara

Gosh , this must generate MASSIVE amounts of pollution and kill thousands of trees.

Stunning display. And to think the Imperial Chinese invented fireworks to SCARE people away.

Having visited this event in person, I can say for sure that everything progressed without a hitch. The fireworks were amazing, and the fire itself was surprisingly controlled well. The taiko performance was just the cherry to top it all off. Would recommend to all tourists (especially if you've never met a friendly deer before).
