Is not the girls graduation rate higher in Japan than America? Perhaps she should be back in America thinking of ways to increase the graduation rate, and reducing prgnancies and dropping out. Just my thoughts.

A contrast in styles.

In Japan, first ladies are considered best when seen but not heard, while Mrs. Obama has never shied away from the attention or spotlight, dancing on daytime TV, wearing colorful outfits. Mrs. Abe may not make a show for the cameras, she still speaks her mind like Michelle Obama.

“I wasn’t particularly talented or had dreams…I had a job, but it was temporary when I met my husband,” Ms. Abe said of her young self. “Women were called Christmas cakes—once you hit 25, your value diminishes. I married on the last day of being 24.”

She's spoken against nuclear power and spoken up for gay rights, something Shinzo would never comment on.

I wish Mrs. Abe had more chances to speak, she seems to have the pulse of the nation better than her husband.

They are both lovely ladies. In the past, I was always shocked that First Ladies were a bit hard on the eye. John F. Kennedy had a beautiful wife. Abe's wife is very elegant and tame at the same time. It's great to see them together.

Why are you writing fiction about Japanese first ladies??? Is this another one of your many fiction about Japan???

Is Mrs. Abe really that much of an opposition to PM Abe? I swear everything she says fits into Abe's rhetoric perfectly. I would very, very surprised if she genuinely was opposed to any of Abe's policies. I wouldn't be surprised if it were all just part of Abe's marketing appeal

she's just here to take her daughters sightseeing for spring break since she doesn't want to travel with her husband cause he cheated on her. a waste of taxpayer money, both u.s. and japan, imo.

Hi, @Toshiko

"In Japan, first ladies are considered best when seen but not heard" is a quote taken from a Japanese reporter, yes, a Japanese reporter, who works at the Wall Street Journal offices in Tokyo. So, a Japanese person, yes, a Japanese person wrote the quote you claim is fiction. So, just to recap, a Japanese person, yes, Japanese, feels this way.

Why don't you click the link I provided before you make baseless accusations against me?

Here's the link again to the article written by a professional Japanese reporter who feels this way:
