The gateway, or "torii" of Itsukushima Shrine, a UNESCO World Heritage site, on the island of Miyajima (Hiroshima). During low tide, the gate can be approached on foot, but the magic happens when the sun starts to set and the tides ripple in to cover the grounds of the entire shrine complex in a shimmering veil.

Ray Of Hope, very pleasant morning here in Japan !

Beautiful pic! I have a few great ones myself from when I was there, but not from this angle with the mountains in back, and not with the sunrise, either.
Tamarama
Nice. Not an easy place to shoot with all the people and buildings in the background.

I've always loved this picture. Some day I hope to see it in person.

Beautiful. Wish they had a larger version so I can use as my PC's wallpaper.

One of my favorite places to visit here in Japan. If you ever go to Hiroshima, you have stop and visit this lovely destination. I was lucky enough to catch a cherry blossoms last time i visited.

Pictures like this remind me that amongst all the madness this is actually a serenely beautiful place.

I was wandering around underneath that torii at low tide when I was mistaken for Leonardo Di Caprio once by a little kid.
Burumu
Awesome place. Watch out for the Nara-esque deer though. Almost took my friends wallet from his pocket.

Beautiful picture, looking forward to seeing this shrine in the near future.

One of my favorite sites & even have a Miyajima "safety drive" omamori in my car (hope they don't "expire" since I won't be able to return for another for quite a few years).

Magnificent. I have never visited Miyajima, but it will be my next destination for sure.
