Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda poses with celebrities at the annual cherry blossom garden party at Shinjuku Gyoen on Saturday. Behind Fukuda to his right is actress Kaori Manabe. To his left are speed eater Natsuko "Gal" Sone, actress Rei Kikukawa and comedian Sumiko Nishioka. Approximately 10,000 guests attended the event.

Why is Gal Sone pulling such a face? Has the buffet tray just been delivered?

Anyway, how come the caption writer is only interested in giving the young women names? Between Gal and Nobita is that guy from TOKIO, I think, and he has a look of someone with an inappropriately-positioned hand.

And what on earth is Sumiko Nishioka holding?

Approximately 10,000 guests attended the event.

But sadly there was bugger all blossom to look at, thanks to the legendary Japanese sense of flexibility.

smartacus - You're not the only one whose invitation must have got lost in the mail! I didn't get mine either, if you can believe that. Sumiiko Nishioka dayo is just happy to see all the blooming sakura, that's all.

May be good for Fukuda's personal album.

My invitation must have been lost in the mail. I wonder how much food Gal Sone shoved down her throat. And what's with Sumiko Nishioka opening her mouth like that in every photo I have seen her in recently?
