If we're critiquing the photo, I would say that the focus point/depth of field is perhaps a little odd. Both the couple and the far end of the blossoms are clear in focus, whilst the close blossoms are out of it. Pushing all the blossoms out of focus (or keeping all of them in) would've enhanced the framing effect and resulted in a better picture I think.

If it was a actual wedding, it's a shame about weather. After so many weeks/months of mostly clear skies, the past week has been terribly gloomy.

John-san, She's hardly likely to go dragging her (probably rented) very expensive uchikake outside in the dust and mud for a photo. She wears the uchikake for the ceremony then changes at least once, often four or five times, each change being a photo opportunity. The changes (iro-naoshi) typically go uchikake - furisode - white wedding dress - ballgown/evening gown.

Cleo: you being a women would now that the girl is not wearing a Uchikake. Her kimono has long cuffed sleeves and a Uchikake is longer then the womens body so it has to be held up with one hand when taking a image. I know that wedding Kimono,s are very expensive so she used her Furisode this might be the case. But Japanese are traditionist and I have never seen a women getting married wear a Furisode.

Great Pic ? what is the subject ? Is it the out of focus blossoms or is the the people, and which group. I suggest that the shooter was told to move on because the couple on the left are posing for a shooter. How can you tell that it is a wedding image ? Japanese and sumo,s get around all the time in their tradition dress. Could be a girl posing for her coming of age pic .Her dress resemble a furisode by the length of the sleeves. Man ware is a kuromontseki not a Kimono.
