Hooters girls and their trainers from the U.S. pose in the restaurant's first Japan store in Tokyo's Akasakamitsuke. The restaurant has 30 Japanese and 10 foreign waitresses. At left in the front row is LeAngela Davis, the current Miss Hooter International. Hooters Japan opens for dinner Monday night and as part of the opening campaign until Nov 30, one lucky diner will win a Chevrolet Camaro. The winner, who must be a Hooters member, will be chosen by raffle. See related story in Executive Impact.

Ocean of Beauty - Good Morning to All !

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Best Hooterist? It's inevitable, really.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Im going to the opening!!! yay.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Happy Monday! I'm not so sleepy after all.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

So that's what heaven looks like !!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I'll wager all those Hooters naysayers will be first on line.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Wonder how long those foreign chix will stay at Hooters when they get offered way higher wages at the hostess clubs?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Ah this is one of those don't view at work type days.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

How many Japanese are actually in this photo (you know 100% pure)? Yanks in 1st row for sure and the rest haffu with a ton of filipino and others? The two back row on the ends are nice but they dont come off as all Japanese either... Best of luck and a few of you look like you skipped senior year of school.....

0 ( +0 / -0 )

you know 100% pure

Was there ever such a thing? But yeah point taken. Anyway I'll take your spot in line.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

my2sense: I was wondering the same thing. Looks like quite a few Japanese are missing.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

"Wonder how long those foreign chix will stay at Hooters when they get offered way higher wages at the hostess clubs?"

That will be a discussion about a year from now.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Hooters would probably do better in Japan if they adopted some sort of maid costume down the road.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Looks like they brought in the big guns to do the training. Good for Hooters for keeping it real. Those girls in the front row are some fine looking women.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Pathats on to something.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

How many Japanese are actually in this photo (you know 100% pure)?

Newsflash, Japanese isn't a race, it's a nationality. Glad to see some others at JT think likewise.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

SeasonedVet... According to the unwritten rule, if one if one parent of grandparent is not Japanese they are not 100% pure. Sad but true that being 100% pure Japanese is a big deal here, the rest are beneath them including the writer (talentos draw a different mentality). What is cool about this new gig in Japan is the girls and management are bilingual, westernized and trained by the Americans. Something tells me this is going to be a smash hit and I could see myself easily investing in one someday. Was expecting a ton of JAL flight attendants with big tops.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

This is shameful. They are setting women back 100 years. Before you know it, this evil American influence will have young Japanese girls walking around is super short maid uniforms!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The foreign women in this photo puts all the Asian ones to shame.

RR

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Looks like quite a few Japanese are missing.

Hooters girls and their trainers from the U.S.

The ones not smiling are the Japansese ones. And if they let them, the Japanese ones would be the ones flashing the peace sign.

See top right, she is checking her cell for messages.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

So Hooters gets the checkered backdrop in Japan too. How original.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Not a very good photographer. One person's face we can't see and one girl in the front is half cut out.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

my2sense, good quesion. not many I'm sure because J women don't have he "qualifications" to be a hooters girls.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

One person's face we can't see

I don't think that's what Hooters is about. And yeah, who cares about nationality of boobs? Step out of the line please.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Best photo I has ever seen on this website.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Very nice, very nice!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Front row....oh....front row....hooters...hooters....

0 ( +0 / -0 )

front row...disgusting!!! Japanese Hooter girls??? Sounds like an oxymoron to me....a lot of false advertsing here in Japan

0 ( +0 / -0 )

This will never work. It is not nearly, what's the word, I don't want to use "perverted", but the right one doesn't come to mind. Let's say, Hooters does not have the fetishistic twist that would make this kind of thing work in Japan.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The winner, who must be a Hooters member, will be chosen by raffle.

A member? Why so exclusive? If you are a straight male, you are a Hooterite, and a winner by extension of male membership.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

If you are a straight male, you are a Hooterite

Sounds like you've got your own club right there. What about bi's and girls? Here's my club then: Boobs for all to enjoy in late 2010.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

front row...disgusting!!! Japanese Hooter girls??? Sounds like an oxymoron to me....a lot of false advertsing here in Japan

Can somebody please translate this from the Asiaphile.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Nice!! Miss Hooters international = nice x 2 :)

0 ( +0 / -0 )

If there is ever a flood at Hooters, the vast majority of these girls WON'T need life preservers!!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I can't see Hooters lasting long in Japan once the novelty has worn off but one never knows.

I think they will have trouble competing with family restaurants, izakaya, hostess clubs, or "health" clubs.

Hooters Japan - I love it! I'll be there the next time I visit Tokyo!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I agree with some posters here, Hooters won't work.

It has to be much more sick, perverted and twisted to be a hit in Japan.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I like the expression on the face of the girl in the second row, 4th from the right. She looks like she's giving us a kiss!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I can believe they say it's not about sexyness but release photos like this

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I'll be sure to bring my girlfriend there on our next date.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

thanks for posting the pic. now i know i don't need to hurry over there... disappointing!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Sadly, we all know that that "Hooters" would become very, very, very popular if it was staffed by girls under 16 years old (and renamed to "Hooterless").

I am sure the current offering will prove to be more popular with gaijin guests.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Skip the pub / TGIF and head to Hooters with the mates? Sounds like a plan to me.

"I think they will have trouble competing with family restaurants, izakaya, hostess clubs, or "health" clubs."

Family restaurants has been on the decline for the past 12 years - look at the Skylark group and Denny's for evidence. Izakaya is a slightly different market in terms of food and atmosphere but Hooters can take some of this business depending on location. Hostess and Health Clubs are mizushobai and completely different business - they are not restaurants.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I can't see Hooters lasting long in Japan once the novelty has worn off but one never knows.

TGIF seem to be doing okay. They are in the same family restaurant category and I think Hooters is actually a better franchise.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

"disappointing"

I imagine you're in the minority on that one, ha ha!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

my2sense...translation....if you see a J-girl with big hooters...most likely not true....a lot of padding on the cups....and YES I am still a proud Asiaphile :)

0 ( +0 / -0 )

JT - you've done it again! Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. Keep 'em coming, please!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I do not like big hooters

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I do not like big hooters

You crazy!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Hooters will be a successful franchise here. There are way too many sukebe in this country for it to fail. That and the # of gaijin frequenting this place will make it more than worth while.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I just want to know what the prices will be. Case in point, I can go to Outback in the states and dinner for 2 would cost about $45-$50. Here, the same meal would run you close to $100.

A 20 piece wing meal in the USA is $15. I wonder what it will cost in Tokyo.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

@Alphaape: What is the point in asking about the price?? Once again we have people on the forum thinking in Dollars when you are here in Japan earning Yen. Who cares what it costs, no-one is going there for the food are they? Get on the cheapest flight back to the Mid-West and camp out in Outback buddy. Negative comment with no point.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Who said this was a "gaijin" site? Nice idea for a restaurant theme. Can see it being popular

0 ( +0 / -0 )

A 20 piece wing meal in the USA is $15.

I don't suppose you own a trailer and go to watch the speedway on the weekends ?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I bet the women will develop a large stalker following.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Actually, could someone explain what Hooters is? Everyone seems to know, but it is not common knowledge here. Is it like Denny's? Or more like a "fashion health" club (that is, "touchy-feely club") in Kabukicho? Since I'm totally gay, I won't be going there to look at women, but if the food has an American taste...

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The J girl on the third row up from the bottom to the left to the blond. What's up with that face?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

i hope all the recipes really stay the same. Hooters have good wings. Will they have pitchers of beer?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The J girl on the third row up from the bottom to the left to the blond. What's up with that face?

Too much butter on the menu?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

and whose the girl making the kiss face? i know its hooters and all but it aint a strip club.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

These hooties are looking all over the place. I wonder if there wasn't some kind of stare off with 30 Japanese and 10 foreign customers.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I can't believe Japan didn't have Hooters before. It would be really interesting if I compared hooters in Taiwan and in Japan.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

clockwise yes, yes, yes, no, no, no, no, yes, yes, no, yes, yes, no, no, no, yes, no, no, no, yes, no, no, no, no, no, and no

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Shinjukuboy: Hooters is just a restaurant, kind of like TGI Friday's, but the gimmick they use to get people to come to the restaurant is that the waitresses all wear that uniform (nude tights, short shorts, and a tank top). Generally the waitresses have big breasts, although it's not strictly a requirement. You can't touch them. You can only look at them. It is considered a "family restaurant," but naturally some people choose not to bring their kids there or avoid the restaurant on the principle that the uniform is degrading.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

What's the deal with this shop ? It's like a snack, and Japan has 4 million snacks already. The food will probably be yucky, the beer more expensive.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

And actually, looking at the picture, a lot of those girls don't have big breasts (difficult without surgery if you're thin). But they do have fantastically pushy-uppy bras. But in my experience, guys can't really tell the difference ... (hint: Three girls on the front row definitely have big racks. The rest are moderate-to-small.)

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Gross, gross, gross.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I only counted nine foreigners.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Cos, it's not a snack bar. They aren't going to sit there and talk to you and pour drinks. They are just waitresses with skimpy outfits and big breasts.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Nothing like a bunch of women showing off skin to garner over 70 comments. It's interesting that none of the girls look like typical Japanese joshi-daisei (uni students). Perhaps they're expecting half of their clientèle to be gaijin-san.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Gross, gross, gross.

Do you mean the alternate meaning of gross to say big, big, big? I guess it's obvious that are bigger then average.

@rainman1, the point of my comments, it's just a resturant, with bad food actually. I know it it Japan and the prices are in yen, but here's a memo for you, they grow chickens in Japan, and if you probably want to get technical about it, I bet that they import some of the food for the Hooters in the US from overseas too. So why is there going to be such a high price for it here in Japan.

I don't suppose you own a trailer and go to watch the speedway on the weekends ?

@nrthlondon, no I don't own (or rent a trailer), and as far as watching racing, better that than some loser sport like soccer.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

patis: They do in fact chat up customers and in the States I have seen them sit and talk when not busy. They're chosen not only for their looks but also friendly personality.

tokyokawasaki at 10:06 AM JST - 25th October Sadly, we all know that that "Hooters" would become very, very, very popular if it was staffed by girls under 16 years old (and renamed to "Hooterless").

**LOL

0 ( +0 / -0 )

@Alphaape: Yes - It's just another American franchised restaurant serving bad food. Same as TGI's, Hard Rock, Outback etc. Why is it more expensive here? Have you checked the price of rent, tax and labour cost in Japan recently? Tokyo is the most expensive city in the world, even more now that the Yen is so strong. What is with Americans coming here and comparing everything to a dollar price in the USA...which is exactly what you have just said again above. Food in all the above places (TGI, Outback) etc is relatively cheap in Japan for what it is. If you want a cheap meal go to your local Ramen/Yakitori shop where you will eat a lot healthier! What the American themed restaurants charge here is no different to a restaurant in New York charging $20 for a bowl of Ramen.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

tgis, outback , hard rock all have GREAT food. What the he** are you talking about? expensive but gooooood.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

oh dear Captain Crazy..you are clearly a low paid foreign worker living in Toshima-Ku. None of the above are expensive - have you tried the Teppanyaki in the ANA hotel?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I had a funny feeling when I clicked the above button that said "Show All"

0 ( +0 / -0 )

They will get stalked. Probably it will make money (at least to start) but don't think it will be a big hit like in the US....

0 ( +0 / -0 )

They won't get stalked because they won't leave the restaurant dressed like that. They'll look like any one of a hundred other girls walking into Akasakamitsuke station after 11 p.m.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I know it it Japan and the prices are in yen, but here's a memo for you, they grow chickens in Japan, and if you probably want to get technical about it, I bet that they import some of the food for the Hooters in the US from overseas too. So why is there going to be such a high price for it here in Japan.

They'll probably charge the rack rate...

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Sure they will - they'll have their "fans" who'll recognize them in street clothes no problems.

I predict they'll have a really good first 6 months, then a slump. After about 2 years, they'll Japanize the menu and it'll end up more or less as an expensive US themed izakaya.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Hang on...the last 3 rows...are the even qualified to work in Hooters?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I like what am seeing and would like to ask for God's permission to join him in heaven.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The future of Hooters Japan: "It's gonna be BIG".

0 ( +0 / -0 )

"tgis, outback , hard rock all have GREAT food"

Yeah. Great.

There is something really bovine to all of this. Beef, fat, udders. Moo. Does anyone step back and look at this and say..."What?" Or does everyone just kind of dive into the trough?

It is not art. It strikes me as pandering. What is the point? I guess Hooters is the point.

More mead, wench!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

How will customers concentrate on burgers with so many boobs bobbing around?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

That front row... wow.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

peaceman:

" I had a funny feeling when I clicked the above button that said "Show All" "

ROTFL!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

haha - exactly, who really cares how much the food is or how expensive the food is??? Surely, it's just the girls we want to go and look at. If I want a good steak there are any number of places I will go to..none mentioned here!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

These ladies will be working in restaurants? oh,I thought they'll be working in beer houses...surely the food will not be the showcase there but rather those boobs...

0 ( +0 / -0 )

@Alphaape: Yes - It's just another American franchised restaurant serving bad food. Same as TGI's, Hard Rock, Outback etc. Why is it more expensive here? @rainman1, good points, but if local Japanese restaurants can charge cheap meals as you mention, paying the same high rents and costs of living in Japanese yen, why is it that places like the ones you mention have to charge more?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

@Monkeyz Thanks for the explanation!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

There is a photo showing dozens of well-racked young ladies wearing nothing but low slung vests and hotpants and there is a debate going on above about the price of taxes, the strong Yen and labour costs.....?

Jeez Louise has anyone even BEEN to HOOTERS? it is about the girls AND CHICKEN WINGS and PITCHERS of BEER! Its GOOOOOOD!!! the servers are just the icing, its got a great menu!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Jeez Louise has anyone even BEEN to HOOTERS? it is about the girls AND CHICKEN WINGS and PITCHERS of BEER!

And in a nutshell, KaptainKichigai ends the debate about Hooters Japan once and for all. Goodnight everyone.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Hrm...I expected...I cant say more...but better.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Newsflash, Japanese isn't a race, it's a nationality. Glad to see some others at JT think likewise.

A few posts into a discussion on what is basically a nice picture of some pretty girls and we are already into a discussion on race and Japanese-ness.

Long live JT!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

a nice picture of some pretty girls

you mean personality-wise right?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

mmmmmmmmmm...chicken wings.....beer.....hooters...

0 ( +0 / -0 )

That must've been a media frenzy of photographers snapping photos. Would explain why the girls are looking in random directions.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

do you have to have a particular cup size to get the black t-shirt?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Food and drink menu now online at the JP website. hooters dot co dot jp

0 ( +0 / -0 )

it is about the girls AND CHICKEN WINGS and PITCHERS of BEER!

That would make a great marketing campaign for them. "Hooters Japan. It's about the girls and chicken wings and pitchers of beer !"

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I am not really a fan of Hooters but I do hope it is successful in Tokyo. I wonder how many Japanese are employed by this restaurant? They just mention the servers but what about the rest of the staff? Last I looked Japan was still struggling economically. If a foreign company with local partners decide to take the chance I am willing to support them. Besides the buffalo wings are decent.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Hooters' chicken wings... TASTE DELICIOUS :)

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I had a funny feeling when I clicked the above button that said "Show All"

Ha-HA! :-D

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Its a great pic but i can't help wonder these girls are going to get some serious stalkers over here. They'll need taxis to and from the doors.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Ok, question here---how long will the average waitress work here before she is married and scooped off to the good life. Until the husband realizes that she doesn't do conversation so much. That's the problem with us men--we think after the marriage instead of before. Just saying. Dang pretty though! See, there I go!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The last thing Recession hit Japan needs is trash like this.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The last thing Recession hit Japan needs is trash like this.

I disagree. I think this trash is the only thing that might pick Japan out of this recession. I wish it was solar energy, but....come on?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

How did they find so many new-halfs (halves) to be in one photo?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

What do they hoot?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Make sure that Chevolet Camaro is scale 1:1 before getting your hopes up. You won't be happy to find it was 1:24 and you have to buy your own model glue to put it together. You see, the Toy Yoda (Toyota) gag has already been done.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

That's the problem with us men--we think after the marriage instead of before.

@TheRat - speak for yourself.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

better looking people on the streets on Tokyo....dont need to go in this bar unless the food is amazing...yes i have been to a few hooters before

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Check the drink menu on their website..."cordest beer in town"....WTF

0 ( +0 / -0 )

"trash like this"

Gosh, I'd hate to hear what you'd say about... never mind.

I guess you have never heard of the "Japanese invention" of maid cafes where the waitresses call the male clients "master" and offer to cut their food for them!

Get real

Funster32 at 10:08 AM JST - 25th October:"Family restaurants has been on the decline for the past 12 years - look at the Skylark group and Denny's for evidence."

You are right and wrong most "family" restaurants are on the decline with the exception of Saiseriya which has been expanding and has very good profits mostly because of its "service" that is basically like most western countries (without the attitude) of yes we can make changes or serve you plate A before plate B.

If Hooters sticks to good food and good service they will be around for some time to come, if they do like too many foreign franchises here and end up "Japanising" the menu and being inflexible on service and orders then they are doomed!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Yawns! I do not see the attraction. The food and service is not going to be any better when the servers were little clothes. Looks like another way to separate a man from his money. About the Car, ick getting sodai gomi as a "prize"? This sounds like the result of testosterone poisoning.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

For some reason I doubt that most Japanese 20 somethings are going to need training in wearing a hooters outfit. With all the cosplay over here the girls are well versed in this type of stuff.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

ca1ic0cat: They usually have a store that sells Hooters clothing(male and female) so look for Hooters' cosplay in the future.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

how long will this last? sex em up, dumb em down...more debasement from da usa basement....take that silicon back to the valley, girls. i'm so sure ;-)

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Chesties up front!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Hooters is a joke.

There is always someone out there to hypersensitize something like this into a "degrading thing for women". These poeple dont want to understand that the women who work there do it willingly, but are the first to tell you a woman own's "her body" when it comes to abortion. They cant decide who should own it....them or the government.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

As a regular at one of these places in the U.S., I can tell you that while they "honey", "sweetie", and "sugar" you up in the store, they aren't going home with you (unless you're already their boyfriend). It's a restaurant that serves food and drink, not women. I've always said the uproar over maid cafes is incomprehensible to me because they're no different than the Hooter's chain - cute girls playing a part to sell food and merchandise while wearing a special costume based on a theme. For the Hooters chain, the theme is "tank tops, hot pants, white socks, and white sneakers". They're saleswomen, not skanks.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The Japanese women in this photo puts all the American ones to shame.

Fixed.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

like: the way the girls in the front are sitting seiza style; the bevy of beauties

dislike: there is only black woman in this photo

0 ( +0 / -0 )

"Yawns! I do not see the attraction."

Har!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Hooters has great breasts, oops, I mean wings. All the talk about "setting women back". I'm bored already. Did you drama queens read the part about how many women applied vs. how many women were selected? Sounds pretty progressive to me.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

mmmmmm...cordest beer in town....wings.....hoooter girls.....hopefully osaka is next

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Yuri Otani: "sodai gomi as a prize?" Well, a Camaro is a pretty cool car. How many were recalled? I heard TEN MILLION Toyotas were recalled. Enough with the flag waving, please. That's just barely-masked jealousy. This place should do well if they keep the unique service. They'll provide another small but nice cultural bridge and maybe, someday, as different peoples' minds open, we'll hear less right-wing ranting.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Front second row, left first and second..........they get my vote !!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I think the sicicilan and yuri need glasses! These girls are all HOT,a and at least the round eyed ones, well have a nice pair of hooters, to kind of keep the HOOTERS good name and reputation where it should be, way up there with reasons why men love women, 2 good reasons! Go! Hooters Go!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

My girlfriend went to get an application. They handed over a size 36D(92) bra and told her to "fill this out."

0 ( +0 / -0 )

They're all beautiful, but the girl on the left in the second row behind LeAngela is ridiculously beautiful.

@vegas guy - So, did she fill it out or what?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I don't need glasses. I have them already.

And all of them would be kicked out of bed.........More room on the floor.

Kidding aside, even the USA girls are good looking. I just have a preference.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Second row from top, fourth from the right. When is her shift?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Not many even so-so attractive girls in this photo. White chicks dont cut it in Asia. The only undeniable beauty is in the second row, farthest left.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

"Not many even so-so attractive girls in this photo"

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!

Sarge, look at it from my point of view. How would you like to go to an overpriced restaurant with the main attraction is being served by bulked out men wearing tiny outfits?

I agree with YuriOtani.

Yuri, steve, what does an overpriced restaurant with the main attraction being served by bulked out men wearing tiny outfits have to do with Hooters? Ha ha!

Sarge, the only attraction is the big busted women. The food is lousy and overpriced. What does it have for me?

sarge; 1400Yen for a crappy fast food burger. No thanks!!

"...overpriced restaurant..."

Is that unusual in Japan?

"The food is lousy..."

Lots of comments like this from people who've never even been there.

YuriOtani:"Sarge, look at it from my point of view. How would you like to go to an overpriced restaurant with the main attraction is being served by bulked out men wearing tiny outfits?"

Yuri, how would you like going to and over priced restaurant with the main attraction being men wearing skimpy maids uniforms? Oh! Wait this is Japan and they actually have that, never mind!

I have been to a HOOTERS in the US about 10 years ago and they do have some really good food and I enjoyed my food, but the waitresses surely got a raise out of me. I want to go there during the holidays and take my wife there too.

Yuri: "The food is lousy"

Have you eaten there?

steve: "a crappy fast food burger"

Same question.

Is is just me or the 30 Japanese girls that they have hired look like illegal immigrants from South East Asia... 20bux for a burger and 10 dollars for....

Mr. Manager, good move on opening the joint, but please refrain from doing hiring any further. Is it that hard to find a good looking girl in Japan? Come on!

Yuri, if you've never eaten there then how do you know the food is "lousy". When My husband and I were in Houston in June we ate at a Hooters and the food was good. Just because the food is American does not equate with lousy. I am Japanese Yuri, you know what I am saying. Tone down the hate dear.

ikkochan, laughs it is that being a women I get no pleasure from looking at women. So the sight of a waitress in a tight shirt is not enough to pay extra for the meal. Hate has nothing to do with it. It is not the American food I would find "lousy". Though perhaps it might be ok but still it is more expensive than a hamburger at another place. Me if I had a husband, he could only go in there with a blindfold over his eyes ;)

If I were singe, I take all of the above.

But even if I were single I would not eat at Hooters. The food is far from healthy and it is overpriced. You are paying the high price for the view. You can get the same view for free on a sunny day on the Ginza.

Also, the name Hooters leaves much to be desired of as regard 21 century sensibilities. "Hooters" is a slang for women's breasts. You can date this slang expression when you consider it refers to the rubber bulb of a horn that used to be used on automobiles a century ago. You pressed the bulb and the horn went "hoot, hoot." I imagine this slang term was made up by inexperienced farm boys. Anyone with experience knows that women's breasts, no matter how big, do not go "hoot, hoot," and neither does the woman to whom the breasts happen to belong.

The only reason I might remotely consider eating at Hooters is if they ban smoking and nothing better is available. I mean if my usual non-smoking restaurants are packed.

Frankly, I think these girls should be working in another place. Not at a restaurant. Savouring the food is something we humans have been gifted with.Have our expectations become that cheap that we need an atmosphere full of adrenaline to enjoy that food? Add value to the food by making the food, delicious, healthy rather than try tricky stuff. If it was targeted at the Jmarket, sorry. But Jmen know where to go for that, not to hooters.

I wonder if hooters would hire a nice looking transvestite who not only shows cleavage, but "bulge"..

Me if I had a husband, he could only go in there with a blindfold over his eyes ;)

I'd like to go there with my husband.. I don't mind there are pretty girls with big boobs there, and I don't mind my husband looking at them because I know he will think I'm far BETTER than those girls (BIG smile) :)) He's done a pretty good job making me feel secure and being around pretty women wouldn't make me feel insecure with my honey.

I don't think the food at hooters actually is any better than TGIF, and I don't think TGIF is cheap at all... but I like both Hooters and TGIFriday's.. they have some pretty good food (not all, but some are pretty good).

fishy, the best place for American chains is in America. The ones in Japan are not as good.

This is one of the few times I am going to have to agree with YuriOtani. Well somewhat agree at least. Although to say this is any different then let's say a maid cafe, something similar is a bit of a stretch. Hooters is really pretty tame in comparison to some other chains like Coyote Ugly though. I would think they will try to tailor their menu somewhat to Japanese tastes as well. I mean any good restaurant will do that if they want to be around very long. I would also like to add there chains that do very well in Japan. Few and far between of coarse but do exist. This is the very first Hooters here so I have no doubt HQ will be keeping a very close eye on how well it is doing. It's no cheap venture starting any new chain franchise especially here no doubt lol.

I am sure they went to quite a bit of trouble to even get here. HQ must have felt it had a reasonable chance of doing well. I doubt they would've put the time and energy into to doing so if were not the case. On the flip side I can understand Yuri's reservations though. The food is good as we have eaten there quit a few times. Although is it appropriate for the location and will it cater to Japanese tastes and sensibilities? I also have some reservations having foreign staff on board to. For training purposes OK but not as a permanent fixture. The girls I am sure are quit good and likely were hand picked but do they speak Japanese? Being overpriced is really not an issue if the food is good. Not to mention that this is Japan right? You have a reputation to uphold as worlds most expensive destination!
