Yes, I did watch it, and I've watched and own all the previous UFCs.

Anderson Silva is the greatest fighter of our time! the man fights using the matrix.

This is actually the ultimate sport: one on one, man vs. man, best fighter wins. Isn't this the basis of sport? But a good pic would have been to show something the winner did, not the loser.

Okami didn't get KTFO'd, but he was made to look a total n00b.

@warallthetime (butch moniker you got there)

Every man should be versed in the basics of self defense at the very least.

A little bit sexist, no?

Did anybody commenting actually watch the fight? It was a TKO not a KO and certainly Okami didn't get KTFO as one poster said. To the guy who stated he is a lover not a fighter that is fine. The world is a violent place though and if you have a wife or children love isn't going to defend them in a possible violent situation. Every man should be versed in the basics of self defense at the very least.

Asagao: Beware of spoilers! They are everywhere! :) Actually, you should probably have expected it.

I agree it's funny they show a picture of Okami hitting Silva (who hardly seems to notice) while the former was KO'd in the second round, but maybe it's the only good shot they had.

Anyway, I also agree that boxing is a stupid sport (of course, I know that's opinion as well).

FUNNY PICTURE.... Silva TKO's Okami in the second round.. but JT puts up a picture of Okami punching Silva... good one JT!!!

The title says "give it your best shot" and Silva is just playing with him... So JT put a good photo there.. Anyone can see who the winner is by the photo and the title....

@Kersey

It takes years and years to understand football, that is just how complicated it is. It is the most technical sport in the world

I think you're thinking of cricket : )

oginome - It's not about people being beat up, the fighters aren't in there against their will. They are trained professionals, and the main thing everyone enjoys about MMA is watching how different styles and martial arts mesh. They are martial artists, not a bunch of schmucks fighting outside a bar like you seem to be thinking.

Okami got KTFO, although was hardly surprising. Really want to see a Sonnen rematch, although I get the feeling Silva would dispatch him quick this time.

Asagoe!! You are horrifically wrong.

UFC/Pride etc is a game of tactics and strategy. So does American football. Shows how much you DON'T know! Football is mostly about strategy. Hours and hours and hours of studying your team and the other team.

It is not all blood and guts. You train your body to take the hits, and in general training, you rarely get your brain smacked against the rear of your skull.

Neither is football. Hours of conditioning and studying. In American football you do get huge hits. Those guys in the NFL and College football are modern day gladiators. They have to be smart as well just like fighters. Asagoe, no disrespect intended but don't disrespect something you have never tried to understand. One man't peach is another man's poison. It takes years and years to understand football, that is just how complicated it is. It is the most technical sport in the world and also depending on your position, the most brutal. It is a gladiator sport that takes brains. So does UFC and other sports like it. Peace

Anyway, i am happy that Silva won. He is a good fighter.

KInd of funny how they show Okami punching Silva instead of the other way around, especially since that punch was a rarity for Okami that night. Favoritism here? Hmmmmmmm? Seriously out of all the pictures? That rare punch? Booooooooo Show reality.

MMA is a great sport and Japan has had a ten year lead on the rest of the world in it. I was hoping Okami could best Silva and bring back some of the popularity to the sport that Sakuraba left behind in Japan. Thanks to this sport and Japan's fascination with it, lead me to look beyond my own culture.

Asagao, You should try it before you knock it

No thanks, I am a lover, not a fighter.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

Yeah, I agree there's something wrong with this "sport." Still, the strategy aspect fascinates me.

BTW, I have to agree that Silva, even after all these years, is the best.

It's a human chess match. You don't have to like it but at least familiarize yourself with the sport and what it entails before speaking ill of it.

Why not just watch a normal human chess match of humans playing, you know, chess? Why transfer it into people beating each other up? Why do people need to watch other people beat each other up?

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

I'm not sure Silva sustained any damage in this shot. Okami's arm looks to be at it's maximum extension, but Silva looks like he might have turned away just enough to avoid any damage.

People knocking the sport and comparing it with a Roman slave fighting for his life are silly. I am routinely impressed by the sportsmanship of MMA fighters. This is a sport where there are multiple disciplines all rolled into one sport. As somebody who is just getting into Brazilian Jiu Jitsu I can tell you the sport is way more than smashing each other in the head. It's a human chess match. You don't have to like it but at least familiarize yourself with the sport and what it entails before speaking ill of it.

You train your body to take the hits, and in general training, you rarely get your brain smacked against the rear of your skull.

It's still people beating each other up for entertainment, blood or no blood.

@globalwatcher and oginome. You should try it before you knock it. Do you like chess? UFC/Pride etc is a game of tactics and strategy. It is not all blood and guts. You train your body to take the hits, and in general training, you rarely get your brain smacked against the rear of your skull.

Lunchbox : you need to get a sense of humor, I mispelled it purposely.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Thanks for saying the result...it only happened on Saturday and havent downloaded it yet. Spoil sports.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

You are not alone, origome, I hate this sport as well as hunting. This sport reminds me a roman slave fighting for his life against a lion. No thanks.

I know right? Watching people beat each other up and then call it ENTERTAINMENT! Why the hell would people pay money to watch this?

I hate this sport.

They are weeds compared to fighters of old. Henry Cooper would have duffed both up within 30 seconds.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

warallthetime - Japanese fighters are usually undone by wrestling in the UFC. They can't hack the bigger fighters who are used to cutting weight putting relentless pressure on them. Yamamoto, Gomi and Akiyama are all getting done by that. This fight was different though - Anderson is in a totally different world to any fighter. Okami is no bum, but he was made to look an absolute tool yesterday, much like Belfort and all the others who have fallen to the great man. I'm not even sure if GSP could beat him - I think Jon Jones could, but Silva probably wouldn't move up to LHW.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Silva unfazed and Okami collapsed...wonderful picture of the year !

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

Anybody who actually watched the fight saw Anderson Silva drop his gloves taunting Okami. Okami punched him twice in the face and then Silva countered knocking Okami down. He didn't win by KO either it was a TKO. People like to praise the PRIDE fight organization but many ex Pride fighters especially the Japanese ones simply don't match up to the skill of the fighters in the UFC. Akiyama is a joke, Caol Uno is too, who else? Okami is the only decent fighter in the UFC from Japan but seems to only win over scrubs. Takanori Gomi is 1-2 since entering the UFC.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Silva doesn't seem impressed by Okami's best shot. He didn't bother to raise his gloves.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Skill wins over ganbare everytime

2 ( +5 / -3 )

Unfortunately for Okami this might have been his "best shot", but it wasn't quite good enough.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Okami's shot wasn't good enough.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Awesome photo!

Maitake, You need to check the spelling of Okami's name

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

FUNNY PICTURE.... Silva TKO's Okami in the second round.. but JT puts up a picture of Okami punching Silva... good one JT!!!

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

JT is covering MMA? Great. Okami was well and truly schooled yesterday. Anderson Silva is the greatest mixed martial artist of all time.

-1 ( +2 / -4 )

Silva knocked out Okama in the second round to defend his title.

Oh! Great shot in the photo... buuuttt he lost.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

UFC / Boxing - a legal way to beat the crap out of someone and not get sued.
