Congratulations from Italy ! It's very well deserved. I wish sports like Gymnastics, Fencing etc. would get more attention on national medias, that mainly focus on Football and Baseball. Olympic Games are just 300 days away and everyone should discuss about that!

As a former gymnast myself, I love the sport and I watch with awe every year as the bar gets set higher and higher with each subsequent new generation of champions.

I watched this guy last night and his moves were stunning. He is so well respected by his peers too. Truly an incredible talent. Congratulations well deserved.

He's a terrific athlete but you women should realize he's only 161 cm. ( 5 ft. 3) tall.

It's alright...size does NOT matter to me. ;)

@paulinusa: its not the size that matters it is what you do with it that counts - and I watched this guy last night - he can do ANYTHING with that bod of his!

How refreshing - a little eye-candy for the GALS on photo of the day for a change! Thanks JT ;)

Well done - he sure is a pint sized macho man! He could probably throw those of us who are a foot taller that him! Will he now overtake the Nadeshiko Japan as the darling of Japanese media?

The day when Japan win the most Gold medals in Olympic is not far....

That's a BIG call when you have the likes of China, Russia, The States, Aussie, Germany around...but good luck anyway! Japan may well nab a few medals in gymnastics in 2012.

How about shaving your underarms dude!!

Great flips, twirls and strength. Eye candy? Well, enjoy the bo-bo and I don't mean sleep.

It must also be especially sweet to win the world title for the third consecutive time in your home country. Japan is really strong in gymnastics these days. When I was competing, it was all Bulgaria, Romania, Russia and the US with a bit of China occasionally thrown in. Those girls were soooo tiny! Not that I was ever in the international league anyway.

Dont see much of the eastern European teams these days on the world circuit. Or the UK for that matter. We Brits do have certain skills that stand out from the crowd (rioting and drinking being two of them!) but gymnastics - other than the odd Beth Tweddle and Daniel Purvis we are pretty forgettable, sadly. Slightly stronger in the mens but not by much.

Congratulation to Kohei Uchimura, This guys is simply awesome, in a class of his own, Good on him. HARD WORK!

Nicky Washida; We Brits save ourselves for the REALLY hard sports, like cycling.

He's very fussy about what he eats, but he eats mostly rice and meat for his meals.

Do men in Japan shave their underarms now too? You would think that plucking their eyebrows and carrying around man-pursues would be enough to smooth out the modern Japanese males brutishness. It would be weird if he didn't have hair under his arms.

Oh, and congratulations Uchimura!
