Green ice

A visitor walks through an ice sculpture, created by covering ice on pine trees, at Lake Shikotsu Ice Festival in Chitose, Hokkaido. The ice sculpture festival, in which creations are created by spraying water pumped from Lake Shikotsu, is being held until Feb 13.

I think the first thing many people will think of when they see this picture is, "The Shining". Pretty, too!

I find the ice festival much better than the snow festival. The location with the lake in the background is completely underrated. It is of course much, much colder there than in Sapporo.

yes this picture does seem very reminiscent of the shining but just FYI did you know that the shining was shot in the middle of summer? Kubrick did a great job of making you feel the cold considering it was 90 degrees.
