Approximately 50,000 lights illuminate Hakodate’s picturesque streets leading down to the Bay Area, plus at other events, in the Hokkaido city, each winter.

Throughout the year some where in Japan you find festivals going on. Is this unique to Japan?

My favorite city in Japan! The slopes down to the water remind me of San Francisco. Anyone visiting Hokkaido should certainly consider visiting this city.

Hakodate is a Japanese treasure, and more people need to experience the natural beauty and the wonderful people there.

Looks like more than 50,000 lights - all the more reason to show the picture.

Agree with @Thunderbird: nice to see 'Japan' rather than 'Tokyo'.

Wonderful city! Nice to see a picture of "Japan today" for a change (not Tokyo)
