Another interesting item that can be donated to museums around Japan which are collecting things related to the covid-19 pandemic.

Oh dear... getting a tad out of hand

Handheld mask is not mask but seems better than weird mask having open and close gate. It seems very handy to prevent spreading particles with droplets from mouth. Not perfect but good.

Oh dear... getting a tad out of hand

I'll say! Downright ridiculous

Now I don't have to watch people talk while chewing. Thanks, Corona!

Don’t most people put their masks on their chins when they eat, drink, talk, drive, smoke, or breathe while in a restaurant, office, home, car, hospital, or store?

BTW, Aso’s welder’s face shield has been proven ineffective. This will be, too, I’m afraid.

nice, i don't mind to try. as some people talk and saliva droplet fly out.

In polite Japanese society young ladies are taught to cover their mouths with a fist so that the other person doesn't have to watch the chewing. Yet, slurping/sucking noise is normal for the Japanese men at the noodle shop at the shinkansen train station. A handheld mask can be useful in other situations such as a quick, stolen kiss or a walk through a train station where cameras are everywhere as a couple goes to a more "secluded" environment such as a "sakura picnic."

The ridiculousness is getting out of hand.

If it boils down to this then better not go to eat at a restaurant at all

or better so alone or just families.

This triggers me so hard haha.

Like @drlucifer says, why bother at this point. I'll have friends over instead, thanks.

Interesting product, where can I buy stock in this mask company as this will become a Japanese fad for a while? Do they have hello kitty designs too? Order out or get home delivery instead of going out and possibly spreading this virus until we have the vaccine.

My god, this is getting out of hand...

Wow! I have no words for this. Best solution...let's eat at home!!!

The world has gone stark raving mad.

Eventually everyone who is going to get corona is going to get it, the vast majority will recover and it will disappear, giving us a nice break until the next virus comes along.

The dining mask. How about one that opens and shuts as you eat? Did you see the orchestra playing with masks that had mouth openings so the wind players could blow? Seriously, this is like something from MAD MAGAZINE or The Onion, or National Enquirer!

Devised by Kyoto Saga University of Arts president Masako Sasaki, the mask is designed to prevent its user from spreading airborne particles from their mouth during meal-time conversation to reduce the risk of coronavirus infection.

Laughable.  When we look back at this whole virus mania it will go down as another example of mass hysteria.

Such an elegant looking lady, looks a nice idea but this is totally ineffective.

Should have used that hand for a facepalm instead. Ridiculous

It certainly clashes with her attire. And what's with the fork?
