She's so pretty.

Being a republican ('muricans please note that I dont mean your corrupted version of the word) I have no love for Monarchy anywhere. However, just based on appearances, these two look like a very kindly and happy couple. Indeed, the Empress looks quite elegant.

@popchan: It is still Dainippon Teikoku. Never Oukoku. Never had Kokuou as the head of Japan. Teikoku Gikai for Japanese Diet. , Tenno such as Showa Tenno, Heisei Tenno. King can be used in children;s manga so Japan will not degrade tile of Emperor to king. If you want to change, you need to recruit dictionary publishers first. , then all Japanese people.

Happy Birthday your Royal Empress Michiko .

May you have many more happy years.

I don't understand why he is still called an Emperor in English. Last time I looked Japan hasn't had an empire for some time. I think calling him the Japanese king would be more appropriate.

To my learned college - 'The Moderator', whom wrote me this friendly message:

The empress is not and never was Catholic. Her parents were not even Christian. That ends discussion on this point.

All I can say is - do your homework.

From Wiki: Some traditionalists opposed the engagement, as Shoda comes from a Roman Catholic family,[3] and it was widely rumoured that Empress Kojun also was against the engagement.

She attended a Catholic Girl's Highschool in Tokyo - Sacred Heart, as well as the Catholic University that accompanies it.

You are welcome.

Moderator: No, you are incorrect. The empress attended a Catholic school but is not Catholic. Wiki is not a reliable source of info for any topic. This discussion is ended. If you post this again, you will be suspended from the discussion board.

"I bet they'd be great as neighbors"

I bet they would too. I wish they were my neighbors...

Moderator - What on earth are you so upset about in relation to Empress Michiko's Roman Catholic Background?! What is the problem?

Moderator: The empress is not and never was Catholic. Her parents were not even Christian. That ends discussion on this point.

I'm no royalist, but this is a great photo of a lovely-looking couple. I bet they'd be great as neighbours.

It'd be nice to see the Emperor without that suit and tie occasionally, though... he should be taking it a bit easier at his age.
