Happy Birthday and wishes for many more!

I wish the photos and TV broadcasts were a little more honest about these scenes. Having been there myself, I can attest that a significant percentage of palace visitors are immediately recognizable as foreign tourists. But they are almost never shown in the Japanese media coverage. Seeing is not believing when it comes to media coverage of the royals. Unlike the media, the palace guards providing security for the event are wonderfully friendly and hospitable and there's never any discriminatory treatment.

GalapagosnoGairaishu can you post pictures on here? Maybe not. I'll believe it when I see it.
Watched the "Emperor" last night...ironically...."L"

Fizz, why would my post sound so difficult to believe? Perhaps someone else who's been to the palace on an April 29 (previous emperor's birthday), Dec. 23rd or Jan. 2 would offer his own impressions. I found myself surrounded by Russians, Brazilians and Taiwanese the time that I went.

Congratulations on the occasion of the Emperor's birthday. I wish the Majesty good health, long life, and every success in his activities, and peace, and prosperity.

Gala..so they sectioned off the foreigners? and that's why everyone in the picture is Japanese?

This picture is taken outside of the Palace. Notice familiar small building roof on the scene. Not inside of Palace gardens. Tokyo people and people who visited royal families in past know that/ Not near Niju-bashi.
A Happy Birthday, Emperor!

It does not cost tax-payers money to have Emperor. His seized assest has been used. To update Imperial real estate, a none profittable organization spend their private fund using their money. BTW, the value of Imperial Palace estates have been valued that they are more than total value of entire California real estate,. None Profit Rebuilding Edo-Jo Association takes care of restoring. Because Edo it states, that does not violate Japanese Constiturion articles.... No tax money has been used/ Just like you spend interest incom on your bank deposit, Imperal Houshold Agancy spend income on Emperors; asset government hold (cheat?). Empoeror has to go everywhere whether he is sick or he has his birthday. No freedom. These people are on Hiroppa near Imperial Palace. Tokyo pople, I guess.
