Yuko Ogura celebrates her 27th birthday with Maneki Neko Duck, the character used in commercials for American insurance company Aflac, at Birthday Maneki Neko Duck Café in Roppongi Hills on Monday. "Every day is someone's birthday, so please come to this cafe to celebrate that special day," she gushed. The themed cafe will be open for two weeks only.

I'd like to know more about what happened after this press event. Any shots taken? I'll pay money.

I looked at this picture, read the drivel next to it, and immediately developed type II diabetes. What a bunch of infants these people are. Jesus, I just burped and candyfloss came up.

27?? Yeah right, She is at least 30 years old.

This is what would happen if Dr. Moreau was 6.

So is she 16 or 30? Regardless, she's looking good.

From the caption:
So if this cafe is open for only these two weeks, how are people who have birthdays not during these 14 days going to celebrate? I guess we will have to find our own kawaii giant stuffed character to share our birthday cake with.
If the background panel did not have AFLAC plastered all over it I would have thought this was a McDonalds character from the 'M' on his/her/its forehead.

Ivan -- thanks for the laugh. Unfortunately I sense that promotions here are getting even more silly/childish, if that is possible. Sophistication is not to be expected, except for the occasional foreign luxury brand. Otherwise it is Kawaii Rules.

There must have been a meeting, where adult businessmen made a decision on how to promote INSURANCE, for God's sake.
"What we need is a babyish drawing of a duck. That will appeal to those with a mental age of 6."
"Ah, but we also have a large demographic of sad, lonely women, who sit draped in blankets all day in an office pretending to be cold, and who then have to return to their barren lives of solitude or living, aged 40, with their parents. These women often substitute cats for mature adult interaction."
"Right, stick some pointy ears on the duck and get some squeaky-voiced halfwit to put a limp-wristed fist in the air next to it. That'll get 'em".

I've never understood the maneki neko duck. When it was just the duck, it was kinda cute, and its quacking did sound a bit like 'aaflack'. (Actually at first I thought it was a goose (gan) because they were advertising cancer (gan) insurance, but apparently nothing so deep...)
This weird cattyducky character puts me right off Aflac insurance - I'll go somewhere where they take things more serious, thanks.

This "CatDuck" looks like a bunch of recycled anime character parts.
willynilly
cute or weird, the AFLAC "Duck items sold in the country benefit the Aflac Parents House, a residential facility for families of critically ill children in Tokyo" operating a house for families seems like a pretty serious operation.

She better find a husband fast..... Just kidding. Guys are lined up no doubt. She's hot but high profile and high maintenance.
