Nice pic! What I like about Japanese fans - of all ages - is their shows of emotion. Win or lose, you will always see tears. They are passionate and sure wear their hearts on their sleeves! Well done and good luck in the Final!

Really nice picture!

A gentleman would never stoop to applauding an own-goal by the opposition ; )

@Luca, is it you thumbing us down? LOL. England did a great job. But this picture is pure joy, at somebody else's expenses, but it is anyway. LOL.

@Lost

Not for a minute (three thumbs-up). As I said on another thread, I wanted Japan to win.

I was being facetious, as I often like to be.... : )

Come on, are you trying to tell me as a fellow Englishman that you have never enjoyed a Man U OG?

@Jimizo

1) Man U. unlikely to be "the opposition" for the rest of my lifetime.

2) No gentleman in this household.

Japan had never beaten the England team before. What's wrong with some joy. It seems some Japanese are also crying (me too) seeing Laura Bassett cry who did own goal.

@tinawatanabe

There's nothing wrong. I was just joking with LucaBrasi (him being an Englishman) about the thumbs down I got initially when I posted it was a nice picture. I meant that the Japanese are happy, but unfortunately, due to Bassett's own goal. And I agree that most people feel sorry for her. I have seen videos of her sobbing, it's really heart wrenching.

fair result as the penalty against Japan was dodgy to say the least.

A penalty and an own goal are not much to celebrate.

It is all very well for Japan fans to cheer for their team. That is all very well, and understandable. But one one goes into a convenience store to find all the staff wearing Samurai blue shirts - even the non-Japanese ones, then things go too far.

Why?

I hope USA crush Nadeshiko Japan on Sunday and Manchester United loving Alex Morgan drills in the winning goal.

Ganbarre, Nadeshiko ! (Blue Samurai could sure learn a few things from you ladies !)

Why?

All this hyping up of sport by businesses is something one doesn't see in my neck of Australia

So your justification of why it's too far is because you don't see that where you're from. Is that how you evaluate everything on whether it goes too far or not?

'I hope USA crush Nadeshiko Japan on Sunday and Manchester United loving Alex Morgan drills in the winning goal.'

Not really 'crushing' a side if you win by one goal, is it? 'We crushed them 1-0' sounds a bit strange to me.

I think "Blue Samurai" should start seriously playing like girls. Bravo Nadeshiko! I saw the game and they dominated the ball and played beautifully Plenty of games have been won, or lost, because a self inflicted goal..it is part of fútbol!

English Women team performed better than English Men team during World Cup. However they have not receive the large pay check like male counter parts of professional players. J team won because of referee biased like England Uruguay male World Cup match in 2014. England teams are used to be discriminated by biased referees.

As the gender equality, there should be female clubs teams match and EU championship for female national teams . Hope female players will receive the enviable pay checks like funny man Rooney.

A penalty and an own goal are not much to celebrate.

When I consider the actions of some teams in the mens competitions, especially those teams that hold a game at a draw just to get to the penalty shoot-out, I can appreciate the Japanese women's team here far more.

And that's coming from an English person!

Seriously though, bad luck to the English team (going out of the competition by an own goal has got to be soul-destroying) and I hope that the Japanese play well in the final.

When convenience store staff at Family mart etc, are forced to wear Samurai Blue colours while at work - even though some of them hail from other countries (Sri Lanka, China etc) then yes, that is too far. Certainly it isn't something one sees back in Australia. We are more level headed about these things
